No shade to Eby but it doesn’t take a lawyer to understand that water is wet.
Since he’s a lawyer though, he should know there’s more than enough to convict them of attempted treason, conspiracy, or any other inchoate crime thereof. Unfortunately it looks like neither provincial nor federal prosecutors will go after them for it.

TBF, it is a fundamentally woke goal to allow everyone, including poor people, fair and uncontrolled access to information.
Should really be a basic right but what do I know.

Sometimes videos raise more questions than answers
While bystander videos have allowed millions of Americans to view controversial events for themselves, they are only one part of the story, experts said.
“If there is even the slightest bit of ambiguity, that just opens the door for people to interpret [video] according to their own existing attitudes,” said Oliver of Penn State.
Videos only show viewers a moment in time and can be manipulated or edited, said West. Shorter videos that are commonly seen on social media can also be misleading, he said.
“We don’t know what happened five minutes before or an hour before or three hours before,” West said.
For example, in 2019, a short viral video appeared to show a teenager mocking a Native American activist at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Longer videos of the incident brought the original interpretation into question.
The rise of artificial intelligence and deepfake videos adds another complication to the public’s understanding of these events, experts said.
Shah, from the University of Wisconsin, said it’s becoming more and more difficult for people to differentiate between AI and reality on social media. People may stop believing what they’re seeing altogether.
“The idea of image as truth is also deeply in question,” he said.

As a Canadian this section read like a disgusting acquiescence to present “both sides” and one of them–complete with unnamed “experts”–is just peddling pathetically veiled scare tactics and anti-truth. Ok, sure, videos can be faked or misleading or only show a “snapshot” of an event. With all due respect, part of the solution to this is to record more video. Not less.

TIL NORAD is actually a sales contract.

How long before they start checking under the floorboards?

Thank you for your efforts in summarizing

As a Canadian I’m still naively holding out for some kind of resolution that improves conditions for ordinary people on both sides of the border. Or at least stabilizes them.
One of the most sombering lessons is how innocence is the first casualty. In the worst case scenario, no one can keep their hands clean by this conflict’s end.

Get those numbers up!

Ah yes, the age-old tactic of plundering, now a permanent feature instead of a one-off thing!

I am once again ashamed at living in BC and being in proximity to Global News. What a terribly written article and piece of “journalism.” There’s not a single argument or connection on how or why the “research” was relevant to the decriminalization program OR the end of said program. Tons of claims everywhere but not a single bit of evidence or info for us to possibly connect them.
Organizations seem to always have a love affair with religion because it’s such an easy tool to control the masses with. Might hafta target oppressive control structures and hierarchies first, or simultaneously, for people to be free from the blight of organized religion.
Fr. Wish he’d elaborate beyond platitudes and allegory too but we’re all just a doting audience. 🙄
