I think that there is always an implied design requirement of the program shouldn’t crash.
There’s a setting on the phone app to block notifications when you’re active on the desktop. It works well for me.
I don’t think that I get meeting notifications on my teams on desktop either so they just come up in outlook.
There are people in my org that always start with a “Hi” and then send each sentence as a new message. Very irritating.
The idea is that you can have more data online than you can fit on your computer.
It makes sense for SharePoint when there can easily be enough data to cause space problems on employee computers.
It doesn’t really make sense for it to be the default for personal OneDrives though.

Firstly, they have the power to make your day go to shit.
Secondly, the average man has power over the average woman simply due to the imbalance in physical size and strength.
But your users have the problem that they go to the wrong site if someone on a mobile device shares a link when you’re on desktop.
It just seems inconsistent for them to detect mobile devices but not desktop devices.
They already do this to redirect from the desktop view to the mobile view so they could do it the other way but don’t for some reason.
If a user changes their user agent to something that would cause a site to not be able to determine whether they are on desktop or mobile then they can expect that some sites aren’t going to work well.
It would be better to handle it by detecting what device you’re on rather than having encoded into the url. That way it wouldn’t matter what device the page was shared from.
In the early days of my use of Lemmy, I considered hosting an instance myself. I’m glad that I didn’t because it seems like a lot more work than I thought it would be.
