Learning how to write efficiently and having gained a enough knowledge of the subject that you can slap together an essay in 30 minutes on the bus is putting the work in it.

You say they were “just good”. Sounds like they had to “git gud” in the first place.

I had the opposite teacher (also 7th grade), who lost my essay, claimed I didn’t do it, and gave me a zero. I still had the doc file, so printed it off again and re-handed it in. But by then it was “past the late turn in date so still worth zero.”

Oh, and it was past the late turn in date because she took a month to grade them, so I had no idea she had lost mine until past her arbitrary deadline.

From this experience I learned about covering your ass in communications with authorities, which I don’t think was what I was supposed to learn from the essay but it sure worked.

In the original Jurassic Park novel by Michael Crichton, one of the animals they’ve cloned are these giant dragonflies. As opposed to French, which famously exists as a natural truth of the universe. Even if we had never discovered French it would still be there… waiting.

Not just the sets but the camera, too. Whedon wanted the audience to feel like they were in the space, so they wouldn’t do the usual tricks of removing walls to set the camera up for stuff like hallway shots. If you watch on the longer shots where they move through the ship you can see the actors turn their shoulders slightly when they pass the camera cause they’re squeezing around the corner of the hallway.

I haven’t seen a Darths & Droids reference in the wild in a while.

Have you played Caesar 3 with the Augustus mod? Its like a whole new game. It adds a ton and there’s even a whole fan-made campaign.

I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 mods installed for Rimworld. The in-game mod management system is pretty basic and simply does not cut it. Definitely interested in more management options.

There are islands out there. If you truly think you would prefer that life you can just… go do it.

You don’t even need an island. You could wander off into the jungle of Vietnam and never hear from society again.
