  • I’m glad to hear it. I am doing everything in my capacity to help with the repatriation of the empire’s illegally pillaged artifacts.

Admittedly that’s not a great deal currently though, most of my spare time is spent helping out at the local food bank, as there’s a bit of a malnourishment crisis going on in the UK ATM (as I’m sure there is most places tbh. The disparity between rich and poor seems to have grown exponentially since covid and the job market is only compounding the issue).

You guys should have ceded from the crown eons ago; if I had the choice I certainly would. You won’t find much love for the monarchy among the working class in Britain.

  • I can’t speak for the actions of people that died a century before I existed of course, but I can near enough guarantee that neither I, nor any of my fellow working class citizens have caused any famines in India. (I say near enough; because for all I know there could be some obscure despot running around who just so happens to be from a working class village in Scotland or some shit).

I wholeheartedly agree with the last statement. It is a human condition ultimately; we’re seeing the same situation out in the states, where a lot of immigrant families voted in favour of tighter immigration (the “fuck you I got mine” mentality). I suppose you could argue it’s due to Americanisation of the people who have migrated, but to me it just highlights the fact that morality isn’t based on nationality. I believe brandishing any nationality/ethnicity or race as anything other than human only perpetuates ‘us and them’ mentalities, and I believe it’s by design.

Until the world wakes up and realises it’s not north Vs south or east Vs west; but rather rich Vs poor, nothing will change.

  • Ah so thats your basis for responsibility, not action, but circumstances.

What if that British newborn was born to Indian parents? are they now both responsible and a victim of their own doing?

I didn’t see anyone rejecting the spoils of plunder

There are plenty here who agree with you, unfortunately they’re too busy trying to survive the same persecutions you’re angry at them for supposedly perpetrating. The working class in the UK have absolutely no say in any of what you’re campaigning about; but your narrative of “fuck British people because they were born British” does nothing but alienate them from your cause.

It becomes a case of “damned if I do, damned if I don’t”

  • Ah gotcha, so a newborn in the local hospital is responsible for the atrocities committed by a man who died 60 years ago, seems logical.

I’m not downplaying anything, I’m pointing to the fact that your anger is misdirected. There are many British people that have had absolutely no say or action in any of what you’ve stated, yet you claim they should get fucked for no reason other than where they’re born.

  • Visa and MasterCard probably want government intervention at this point. Regardless of the approach they take now, their phone lines will be clogged up by opposing views voicing their concerns.

By giving in they have promoted this sort of behaviour as effective which means:

    • the opposing side know its an effective strategy
    • the appeased side know its an effective strategy for future issues.

If the US gov (or the AUS/UK whomever is housing these lunatics gov) decided to make this illegal IE: payment providers cannot prevent legal business based on their own morality or something like that, then visa & MC could hold their hands up and say “sorry dudes take it up with your elected rep” and wash their hands of the situation altogether.

  • The ruling British class, sure. The average British citizen is impacted by this, rather than enacting the change though.

It’s kind of like how a select few people in the states decide healthcare shouldn’t be affordable, and everyone else just has to accept it; despite living in one of the richest countries in the history of the human race.

The reality is both nations have the same group of people pulling the strings behind the scenes; anyone who believes they have any say in either country is either not paying attention, or an idiot.

    Here is the sacred tome you refer too m’lord wiggle;

Seriously though, is this the one you were thinking of?

I’m fairly sure this is the original I saw; But searching for “woman, soldering iron” results in many copycats, so it’s hard to say if this is actually the one from back when, or if my mind just misremembers it as such.

  • They’re no better than their Russian/American/Chinese billionaire equivalents; they just find themselves restricted by higher standards in Europe.

Make no mistake, if it weren’t for the laws currently in place, European billionaires would be making the exact same moves those in America currently are.

The saying “there is no such thing as an ethical billionaire” springs to mind. Who did they, or their families fuck over, in order to garner that sort of wealth?

Anyone who was truly altruistic, and had that sort of money, would not retain their status of billionaire for very long.

  • I’ve spun a few matrix servers, most with authentication services which allow the setup of upstream providers (IE: login with GitHub/Microsoft etc) id say the best place to get started is with the Element docker demo .

It’s not perfect, there’s actually a few issues I ran into with the init scripts; but it helped me understand the key components to a server setup, and more importantly, it generates the majority of secrets/API keys etc in the right places, so you don’t have to.

The smallest server I’ve run was on a single core vCPU, 2gb ram, 50gb HDD vps, that server was able to federate and served a group of around 5 of us for about 3 months without any issues (at which point I expanded) we would use it for texting as well as a voice channel replacement for discord.

If someone reads this and wants a cheat sheet for matrix components; here’s a quick start on what each container is used for:

    Essential:
    Synapse - the matrix homeserver.
    Postgres - the database server.

    Great to have:
Mas - authentication service used to provide upstream identification
    Redis - authentication service cache.
Livekit - modern alternative to the inbuilt jitsi video calls
Livekit-jwt - token provider for livekit.

    Tools:
Element-web: a hosted web client capable of using element call (livekit) or jitsi call (built into synapse)… Most people will likely default to either mobile or desktop apps however, so definitely only host this if your VPS is beefy.

Finally; if you’re really just wanting a closed off instance for you and a few friends. You can ultimately just spin up a synapse server, with nothing else. Your server will use an insecure sqlite dB (anyone with access to the VPS can theoretically access the database); but it comes with jitsi call built in, and will handle a small group of people with no issues.

  • It’s dumb to search anything when they’re responding to a direct link to the GitHub page. They had no issues finding it; they were just pointing out the original comment in the picture is no longer there, with no marker meaning there’s no “comment deleted” marker on the thread.

I highly doubt they meant all traces of the comment have been wiped from the internet. That would be silly; given we’re looking at a screenshot of it on the internet.
