Banana industry and fossil fuel industry need to declare war on each other.
I mean, if animals engage in pretend fights and other forms of play, it seems that they can on some level grasp the idea of practicing or doing something for fun.
Curious.
A lot of time is wasted on arguments made in bad faith that have already been debunked ten times over, trying to get through to a reactionary for the 11th time is unlikely to work. Maybe there should be more emphasis on the overarching mechanism of disinformation which you describe, and how it’s intended to stop people from taking any action at all. I feel like this educational approach will be a more friendly for people who are still capable of changing their mind.
99% of conservative arguments on climate boil down to:
Washing your hands is pointless since it only kills 99,9% of bacteria, you should incinerate yourself to remove 100%. Oh, you don’t want to do that? Hypocrite much? Might as well not wash your hands then.
There is no reason to it, pointing out the absurdity and nihilism of this might be more effective.
You fool, you utter buffoon, by doing this you increase entropy even more!
(and by “doing this” I mean doing literally anything)
Thank you for the insight. Yeah, I expected the “cultural” talking points to be pretty similar across the western countries, including Poland, where I live.
The vast majority of pro-meat arguments I hear are based on these conservative ideas mixed with a large dose of protectionism, so any progress tends to be very slow.
But I think here we’ve passed the low point and common sense is slowly gaining ground.
This topic got ridiculously politicized, so hopefully once people get tired of the debate they will be more willing to consider the economic/health/environment/etc. aspects, not just cultural.
Tofu has been unfairly demonized here
Could you give me some more context on this? Is it the usual “phytoestrogen will make you a girl” or agricultural industry propaganda?
I feel like the EU in general has been quite pro-animal agriculture (for example plant-based milk can’t be sold as “milk”), but how is it in Germany specifically?
Yes, e-bikes take more resources to manufacture, especially the battery, but:
While manufacturing an e-bike is more resource intensive than a pushbike, lifetime CO2 emissions of an e-bike can be lower, because a motor is more efficient than human muscles.
If someone has an E-bike, depending on how they use it, it’s possible that it will replace more car trips than a pushbike would. E-bikes also require less physical fitness, which again can increase uptake among people who aren’t as fit or have health problems, for example.
This video is worth a watch: Simon Clark - How bad are electric bikes for the environment?
You know who stayed dead? Judas Iscariot. Apparently he’s suffering in hell for eternity too, unlike Jesus who only had a bad weekend. Judas’ story is infinitely more tragic, even if you assume he betrayed Jesus out of his own free will, but the gospels suggest he was just a pawn in some sick cosmic game.
Expected you to put noodles on her head. Disappointed.
Forza Red Bull! Grande strategia! 😭
CHARLES DON’T LISTEN TO THEM NOOOOOOO
Looks like Red Bull discovered a new way of bottling pit stops, faulty release light.
Looks like a 4-way WDC fight is still on the table if Mercedes can keep it up.
Is sunlight considered plant food? Also there are fungi that feed on ionizing radiation.
