I have a love/hate thing with it. You say it’s closed software, but it’s the opposite and it’s the only reason I got it; how easy it is to remove the google garbage and install something better. I don’t like graphene and I’m planning to try other things, but it’s soooo much better than the default google experience. If you don’t want google software, ironically google phones are the best ones for that.

But the pixel5 is the last “small” phone. And no sd card, no headphone. The phone itself I hate. I liked my s10 (which I lost) much better. But not having any google software on it is worthy, and after this last experience, it’s much more so now. That said I am planning on buying an s10 again and trying to put Lineage on it. It was perfect. Great hardware, acceptable size, sd card, headphone jack… There is nothing like it anymore…

On the g54:

Did you try installing another rom? Do you know if it’s easy? It seems like an ok option, though the camera and cpu seems to be worse than the s10. It may not have bloat (it’s funny because people are ok with all the google garbage, and to me that’s bloat), but it still have the google play virus on it, so it’s dangerous without a custom rom.

About the bricking:

Yeah, I thought I bricked many phones in the past, but there was always a way around. But never before it was by design, with a virus made by the manufacturer. Unless there is an unpatched hole (and unfortunately it is up to date), I doubt there’s a software solution. I don’t have a windows computer, but I’ll try to get one to try that droidkit. I fear it’s like those “kingroot” softwares to try to root phones, that only worked on old unpatched phones and installed a bunch of nasty stuff on the way.

But none of that will work because adb debug is not enabled (the update must have disabled it) neither is the bootloader unlocked.

If they were, I could reinstall the rom, or do something with adb. Without those I doubt there is a way but I’ll keep trying.

I use phone or headphone to avoid talking to people. To minimize the risk of what you said you use to do might happen to me.

Not everyone loves being social. And I’m one of those people from before the internet. So phones didn’t make me this way.

How nice of them to automatically decide to brick my phone with no opt out inside a 500 pages agreement.

Now I know that google play is the nastiest virus on Android. I wish there was an alternative since apple is even worse.

And speaking of virus, most comments says droidkit is a scam. It does look like it is, but I’ll research more to see if it’s an option.

All other options assume I know my randomly generated account. I don’t. Every time I made a google account it was just random letters that i never planned to log in to.

I’m still not sure if i need to do something about it, the same way that some people live happily being over weight. But the comparison gave me a new understanding of the issue.

I think a better way to put my question is: do you think yo need help? You said ASPD is bad. Do you agree, independently of what others say, that what you are is bad and needs to be fixed?

That’s the conflict I still don’t know the answer. If those diagnosis are as real as a broken bone, is it a disease that needs healing or a personality trait?

From everything you told me it seems to me you think it is something that needs healing, and you seem to be more rational than I am, so your opinion is being very useful and important. One thing is a “normal” person who has nothing to lose saying we need help, the other is someone else being on this side of the bridge.

I just want the answer to be “no, they are wrong and they just don’t like that which is different”, but I don’t know if my wish is the reality.

And on that note, do you think you do? From the comments it seems like you agree you have a disorder that needs fixing and is bad, as you put it.

I have a hard time with these diagnostics that seem to change a lot (a broken bone had always been a broken bone and needs healing). How far are things just different perspectives or just different personalities or disorders?

I have many of the same behaviors as people from many “disorders”, and also from the same zodiac sign. If I changed them I would just be another person, not necessarily more healthy. And the same with everyone.

I’m not sure what I’m getting at. It’s just that you have a much more controversial diagnosis and you seem more mentally stable than the vast majority I hear talking. It makes me question these diagnosis more than I do with myself. But then again, you seem more rational than I am, and with the least socially acceptable diagnosis and you seem to agree with it, so I think it’s just me making excuses for my disorder and it all makes sense…

How do you feel about society’s view on your diagnosis?

I’m told I may have bpd and I feel horrible about it, I know bpd people are hated and the support are for people who have to deal with them. However everywhere I read your diagnosis is seen as the worst. Basically looks like a name society came up for people they hate.

I’m not sure if my reading is correct. How do you think people see it and how do you feel about it? Do you agree with whatever the general opinion is?

Reading here it seems to be even worse than i thought. If you tell people about they will think you are a murdered/sadist/demon. Just the name they gave you must be harder than whatever symptoms you have…

From what you said, you are giving facebook what they want. They have no reason to block you. You have interacted a lot with the website and for a long time. They have learned much from you and your interests. If your pictures are fake or not it’s probably irrelevant to them.

What I’ll do, interact with their marketplace, is also in their interest and help them, which makes me hate myself for doing it and I’ll limit to only things I absolutely can not find outside of facebook. And I will try to find what I need outside first.

Specially with servers in the US I wouldn’t be too hopeful about it. Or at all.

But even if the server is in europe, if I were facebook I would certainly keep a room of backups labeled something else just in case. Unlikely fines in the present and possibly massive profit in the future for whatever reason. Why not? The thing is that no one should expect that info uploaded to the internet can be ever really deleted. There should be campaigns to make people more aware of that. As in “we made these laws to protect you, but the only real protection comes from you”.

Here in the united states of the south privacy laws are foreign concepts. But even if we had laws I wouldn’t trust it. What’s stopping them from making a backup of the data, deleting from the main server and saying “there, I did it”?

To me once the company gets your info, you lost it. But to still receive spam is a problem. I had the same issue with companies here. I would like to at least be removed from their spam list.

The less info they can collect on me, the less profitable I am and most likely to be blocked, I imagine. My objective and facebook’s objective are in direct conflict. Not giving them info and still interacting to people who use it is the challenge.

I’m sure they don’t care about people selling the account. However I get the account, as long as they can profit from me it’s all they would care. But I think it would go back to the initial reason they blocked me, because it doesn’t seem that I would be profitable.

I am happy to pay for useful services to companies I trust, and facebook is possibly the last one on the list. Even if they told me they don’t track me I wouldn’t believe. Not they would be even allowed not to, being an american company…

I wish there was something I could donate to help destroy facebook. I don’t want to give them 1cent, but I would pay a few thousand dollars if I thought I had a chance of removing its influence from my life.

Social websites are only worth the people using it. Here it’s only facebook unfortunately. There used to be gumtree which was great, but now it’s dead.

But so, do I need to use my real name? I imagine they have all sort of features to know if you are fake, and I don’t know what those rules are. I imagine it depends a lot on many things, like location, operating system, etc. I use Linux and Firefox, and just from that they probably know there’s a higher chance that I’m someone who hates facebook and might try to make a fake account.

I’ve done from maybe 3 different devices, so I don’t think that’s what fixes it.

They always let me make the account and use it. But on the next day, or even the same day, they block it.

Oh, but what are the proxy websites? That would already be a nice thing to know. I know I would have to log in on them, but I don’t know if facebook even allows a third party website to log people on.

Did you use a fake name, do you have friends on it? If I go down that path I would want to make sure I have all ingredients for it to work.

Here the government requires full privacy breach for buying a sim (because, of course, the terrorists and stuff). That with the inevitable hack that happens from time to time on telcoms it’s just a matter of time of them spreading all the details the telcom have on me.

I think things will have to get worse for me to consider that option. But I am thinking about it. Still… there’s no guarantee they won’t block me since I won’t use my real name or have any “friends” on it. I think if your account will clearly not give them money, they will block it.
