Wow, I haven’t seen that in like two decades!
Musician, nerd, anxious.
Wow, I haven’t seen that in like two decades!
This is one of those movies that I’ve been meaning to watch for, apparently 32, years. In this case it works out that I haven’t yet because now I can (maybe) finally watch it in high quality!
His reasoning made perfect sense to me, I don’t get the “blackmail / bribe” stuff. Since the very beginning of his project he has been quite vocal about not wanting to cause any sort of harm (financially) to CodeWeavers because they do actually contribute quite a lot to the Wine project whereas Whisky did not.
Yup, I have to repeat Hanlon’s Razor daily, it’s sort of become a mantra.
Could this whole situation really be as simple as the largest scale “pump-and-dump” ever?
It is absolutely baffling that people don’t realize that people are the product. I’ve had some folks tell me that they understand and “don’t care” because the service is “free” or whatever, but then they get angry and freaked out when the platform knows exactly what they’re thinking, or at least seems to know.
There’s definitely a deficit in understanding and education on what corporate social media really does.
My partner and I have been ogling much of their wares for the last year or so. I could easily spend $3,000 on the website (you know, if I had $3,000 to blow on clothes).
That’s how I do it too, or if I’m lazy I throw the strap in a shirt pocket that has a button. Works well for me and I have washed my Trail Loop like that many times over the past couple of years. I don’t run them through the dryer though.
I can see where glass aesthetics could be cool, if it actually has some amount of depth to it. I mean, I feel like the current style of iOS is already kind of a frosted translucent type of glass, but it’s all flat with no shadows, reflection, or texture. Honestly, I miss buttons.
There’s a lot about the old days of skeuomorphic iOS that I miss. I’d love to see a return to some of the design elements.
I don’t have any suggestions, but I’m curious what “design and development” flaws you see as major blockers with Lemmy?
I hope every subsequent rally has even more people!
Don’t let yourself fall for the lie that the party is eternal.
Exactly. More people need to let go of the idea that the people cannot affect massive change like this. Of course change will never happen if you don’t believe it’s possible.
I had forgotten about doing that myself. I did that on a couple servers once the distros had full 64 bit builds. Does that technically count as an architecture swap in-place as well?
“Medium: Same as easy but go from the derivative to the base.”
I can’t quite recall, but I think I did exactly that with Ubuntu -> Debian once upon a time. I think Ubuntu was only a year or so old though, so there wasn’t a huge amount of divergence back then. As a bonus anecdote I also attempted a semi-successful build of Gentoo on a PPC Mac around the same time (nothing before or after that has compared in its level of nightmare).
Fix regression with saving states of user queries
Awesome, I’m really glad that’s finally fixed. That issue made my use of FreshRSS almost pointless.
I’ve been wondering about that one, had it on my wishlist forever and forgot why I put it there. I think I’ll pick it up, so thanks for the recommendation!
I think this one’s my favorite so far, it’s a tough call between Enterprise and Lower Decks for me.
I love how it seems like Phlox is up late watching movies and eating popcorn, while everyone else was woken up by the song and went to the bridge to try to deal with the faith of the heart. The person who made it says there is a second Enterprise theme being made as well.
It actually sounded like he was about to say he had actually been there, then realized he was about to lie about that to a guy who would immediately recognize and likely call him out for lying, so he then course corrected with a seriously lame response.
There are absolutely other people out there like you, I’m a lot like what you’ve described, slightly different details, but overall it sounds very familiar to me. For a while I felt disconnected from society in almost dissociative kind of way, but in recent years I think I’ve come to realize it’s not really me who is dissociated from reality. You mention people using corporate social media and propaganda, I think those two things have created such terrible disparity between those who use it and those who don’t (and amongst the ones who use one network, but not the other one, etc…) and the people who strive for facts and empathy become alienated from what appears to be “normal” social behavior.
So yes, there are (hopefully many) people out there with whom you should not have to compromise your core principles to be friends with, but I think these types of individuals are the quietest, the most thoughtful, and introspective. The one compromise we the quiet ones should be making these days is to be vocal.
I hope you can find some likeminded folks to be social with!
