Lemmy is currently more mature and written in rust for safety. But development is very slow and the developer doesn’t seem that concerned. And lemmy as of five months ago still hasn’t put in development for mods to get their job done (https://lemmy.world/post/25339515/14978968)

Piefed is written in python. Devs seem more active and they’ve focused on speeding up popular features that people want from their social media discussion site. I haven’t used piefed yet. I don’t know if piefed actually provides more mod support which would be a big game changer.

The only solid number I know is that somebody a year ago compared their resource use and lemmy was using like 12x the resources of piefed.

For me it was 1mg, 4mg total. I’m guessing they made actual sublingual pills for the study, but I broke apart oral 2mgs to make it work. No waking up. Every 4 hours fits neatly into my awake time. Starting at 7 in the morning then last dose at 7 in the evening.

I do concede there are times I wanted to just give up and beg for injections. Get a wristwatch with timers. If it’s a smart watch get a medication app that dings you. I think android and ios have native medication apps that can ping you. After so many months now the medication has become ritualized. Also they sell cute pill travel cases with a compact mirror.

Almost always cheaper too. And in terms of quality think breaking bad where everything is like 97% correct and most of the issues is that it’s 3% less potent than advertised.

Assuming 18 years old: You go to doctor (hopefully), they pull out a questionnaire and you talk about gender for a few minutes, warn you about the side effects of medicine, give you starting dose prescription which should give you psychological effects but not too many physical effects, tell you to get blood work before next appointment in a few months.

Next appointment they review if the medicine had an effect in your blood, ask if you’ve noticed any changes, double ask if you have any concerns about the changes, then hopefully they start getting serious about getting your blood results to where they should be.

As @magic_smoke@lemmy.blahaj.zone states, other doctors will be more backed up and most of the wait time should be in the waiting room.

They should be treating it as a national emergency. Funds for childcare, pay off loans for teachers, 1 year off if you’re pregnant, 3 months off if you’re the spouse, nurses/midwives making home visits. This shit isn’t complicated, we’ve only been doing it for all of human fucking history. Fuck, if the problem is funds then switch to a lottery system of eligible recipients until you figure out how to raise funds.
