  • he’s not the kind of attractive I expected to wind up with

I can’t tell if this is “I’m batting way out of my league” or “dude you’re ugly as sin but you look like my dad so I’m into it.”

I’ve also told my partner that when he makes that very specific devious chuckle (that deep genuine one it’s hard to fake like when I send him a really good meme) sometimes I can feel my vagina make a little sploosh of goo.

    o_O

  • Correction: “Some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses.”

Zack’s saying that the police aren’t your friends, and if you’re a certain ethnicity some of them are actively trying to eradicate you.

In that context, that MAGAts are championing that song is even more sinister than them just missing the point.

  • I love that FreeCAD exists and use it often, but I really hate how much you have to “fight” the UI. I even briefly considered learning OpenSCAD out of frustration with the ui and the toponaming problem (before realizing that switching to OpenSCAD would just shift my frustration onto Javascript fuckery).

Now that the latter is fixed, though, I have just forced myself to forget how to do things the “normal” CAD way (i.e. using patterns and flows that most other software has standardized around) and instead how to do them the FreeCAD way.

I hope at some point we get an overhaul of the UX, but in the meantime I’ll grin and bear it since I have yet to find an even remotely comparable F/OSS CAD software that works the same on both Linux and Windows.

  • “Traffic cameras have been shown to make roads safer…”

Gonna put a biiig [citation needed] on that one, chief. The only thing red light cameras have actually been shown to do is increase revenue for the government that operates them (and the vendor that installs them, of course).

I’m pretty sure the IIHS study is the only one that concluded a net positive effect from the use of cameras, and then only specifically that they reduced the incidence of fatal collisions. This is supported by other studies which show the frequency of t-bone collisions decreases and the frequency of rear-end collisions increases.
