I might be misremembering, but didn’t we already find older honey in Egypt?
They just were less tech and less billionaire, but they were there too.
I’ve been using its handheld version for over a month on my Legion go and it’s great.
But I installed it on my main PC wanting to go back to Arch and had to force a shutdown because my monitor is picky about being turned on after the PC and it fucked the OS. It needed to boot a live USB and introduce some command to fix it.
First time I see something like that, although I have to admit that I’ve been daily driving Linux for only ~3 years.
I’m about to finish Deliver Us The Moon, quite interesting.
And before it I played Tacoma, and before it I played Observation, and before it I played The Invincible. I think I’m starting to see a pattern here…
So far my favourite has been The Invincible, I think I’ll read the book eventually.
All of them performed like crap on my Legion Go with CachyOS, Tacoma being the least annoying in that regard. The farther I get into a game, the worse it performs.
If someone has more recommendations I’d appreciate them.
I tried The Invincible too, it gave me a black screen with it activated. Success after success! I’ll keep trying more games in the following days, some have to work sooner or later.
It’s funny because after rebooting, the performance in Tamcoma was halved for no reason. Then I disabled fullscreen and the performance got better indeed. The funny part? The performance with Lossless Scaling on and fullscreen off is the same as the performance with lossless scaling off. Touching the other options in the plugin don’t change anything.
Thank you, I followed the video step by step but it’s still not working. The only thing that I was different in my setup is that I wasn’t using the pre-release update channel for decky loader.
I’ve tried it with 2 games in my Legion Go with CachyOS.
Heaven’s Vault: It launched without forcing a particular version of Proton, but it did nothing, same framerate with it on or off.
Tacoma: I had to force GEProton in order for the game to run. It did nothing, same framerate with it on or off.
And yes, I’ve followed the instructions and put “~/lsfg %COMMAND%” as an environment variable. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong, or if it just doesn’t work with every game.
That’s what I thought, I installed CachyOS on my Legion Go last week and I’d swear it appeared there too.
Because I also got this prompt the first time I used my Steam Deck, but I wasn’t sure where I got it.
I got this same prompt the first time I used my Steam Deck and I don’t use Chrome at all, so no.
I like to eat my popcorn with a pitchfork, thank you very much.
In game mode if you navigate to library then to non-steam, if your list is empty it will prompt you to install Chrome. Maybe it was somewhere else, but yes, the prompt exists regardless.
Edit: Picure I got from the Interner to illustrate my comment:
Edit 2: More proof that it never happened and either I’m imagining things or making it up:
Health comes first, we’ll be here whenever you feel like writing one of these. They’re one of the best things I can find on Lemmy, so thank you for writing them, and I hope your health gets better soon. My thoughts are with you.
I used EndevourOS with Nvidia for years but one day an update brought a black screen and decided to use something else (downgrade didn’t fix it). I’m currently using Tumbleweed and it works well, but I kinda miss Arch… So I installed CachyOS in my Steam Deck.
I’d mainly play indie and AA games on it, alongside emulation.
How good is the trackpad? It’s an important point for me. It’s quite smaller than the Deck’s and I read SteamOS still has problems with it, so I guess I would install Bazzite or CachyOS if it’s fully functioning.
Edit: I just realized that you’re talking about the OG Legion Go, not the S. The trackpads should be better than the Go S’ small one.
Edit 2: But the OG Go is quite more expensive and outside my budget, so It’s be Deck OLED vs GO S. The Go is a no-go (sorry).
Edit 3 (Is this going to end up being a saga?): I thought that I might buy a used Go, it’s another option. The tiny trackpad of the Go S is a bit off-putting, I have a couple weeks to think it over.
I’ve been thinking about selling my Deck to get an OLED, or maybe a Legion Go S. I haven’t decided yet, the Go S is more powerful but it has a higher res scree, so in the end they peform more or less the same from what I could gather. The OLED Deck is almost the same as the LCD model, but the screen tempts me.
Considering the Steam Deck’s screen is 1280x800, I think it might be ok.
VIII has always been ugly
I don’t agree with this. It definitely wasn’t considered ugly back when it was new. In fact, I believe the over ambitious models for the hardware as you put them were considered a big improvement compared to VII’s.
