If true, you should share your story on the GOG forums. But because the games are DRM-free, they cannot region lock your games. Only exclude people from buying certain games because of applicable countries’ laws like Germany and Australia.

SE has stopped caring about its customers a long time ago. They never bothered to fix their old broken PC ports either like 13, 13-2, and the old 3, 5, and 6 games. FF16 is still exclusive to PS5, 7R Integrade was exclusive to EGS until June 2022, and they really went all-in on Metaverse/NFTs.
IMO, they died when Sakaguchi left in 2003 and hasn’t been the same since. It’s always Ship of Thesus with these once legendary companies.
Valve is in a position where they don’t have to do anything and can still earn several billions per year. $7.6B USD last year, I believe.

This is the devs’ responsibility, not different shops. I can easily play compatible crossplay games easily with my friends as long as the devs develop it from the ground up.
100%. This is a collective effort and since the market is mostly 20-40 yo demographic with disposable income, it’s up to them to do the right thing.

Great post. Even if GOG was to go under, they’ve said before they’d give everyone a heads up before they close. Just like when Playism closed in 2021.
GOG user here too, they can transfer ownership of deceased’s games over to the next of kin if they have the proper legal docs and will. It’s one of the last DRM-free bastions of PC gaming.
Even then, deceased people’s accounts can go to their next of kin. GOG does this with provided legal documentations and will.
