Electoralism in this context means the idea that elections are the solutions to the political issues of our time, that the primary focus of energy from the left should be in winning elections so the elected officials can do as they were selected to do and solve societal ills.
Many Marxists and other leftists ideologies disagree and feel that the four options you’ve given show that electoralism is a trap for the political energy to change.
How much active development does a browser engine need? If Mozilla died would I quickly be finding a larger chunk of websites that aren’t supported? Because as it sits, Firefox feels like one of the most corporate pieces of open source software I use daily, and I need to know just how tragic it would be if Mozilla died.
Who else would work such magic as making sure there is an AI integration panel, or a cool new logo.
I can’t wait for more ‘quests’ and notifications about how I’m failing all of them 🫠

Everything they are describing is well supported by solid evidence that you can look up. Further, in conversations of what would drive women out of stem, the welcome harshness and sexism pushing people away is the core of issue.
Ultimately this dismissive attitude towards a well known and understood phenomenon speaks to the arrogance of those that disagree with the well established reality.
You are going out of your way to poke holes in someone describing a very rare and valid view that demonstrates the discrepancy gender presentation gives in lived experience, and how it follows well tested sexist trends by holding their tumblr post to the standard of a scientific paper. You are so desperate to preserve your warped world view that the severity of sexism in STEM isn’t as big of a deal as it is made out that you have taken a genuinely ridiculous position.
Do better.
The thing about pissing your pants is that those cleaner will think you shouldn’t piss yourself, and those dirtier will think you should shit yourself.
The point is that it’s a class war. It always has been. It’s not about “socialism vs capitalism”…
I really think you should maybe watch some youtube essays on Marxism and what it means, I think you might like the things you learn from it.
Amazing! (commenting so there aren’t 88 comments 😤)
Do prosthetics need to read from the whole brain, or can it be well approximated with only certain spots?
They really aren’t though.
Cute, but maybe the classist stuff isn’t actually a clever tool.
You know why they’re called red necks?
Democrats better not put forward candidates people are apathetic about then.
I mean there is the difficult but not acquiescent solution, that coincidentally carries parallels to the real world, of unionizing your work place and using the power of collective bargaining to demand better conditions. This is hard work and takes time and effort, but instead of recognizing that and trying to help, people check out. And those pushing for it are called unrealistic tools of the bad manager and that we demand perfection, while every year the ‘lesser evil’ manager gets a bit more touchy with his subordinates.
Further in the real world analog of this, the ‘lesser evil’ manager is bombing children, and driving us towards climate catastrophe. Yes democratic politicians are better then republican ones, but that doesn’t negate the point of the meme. They do not give a fuck about you, and they will drive us off the climate cliff, they will bomb more children, they will give more tools to the police state, and they will hire more ICE agents. With such stakes we need to do the hard thing and demand better.
I write code at my job, and it makes me faster at writing code.
It’s so strange to see folks randomly adopt this hardcore grindset mentality when AI is mentioned.
At this particular moment, for this particular task I am not seeking to improve my skills
OH, Well I guess you’ve never cared about a thing in your life and you want robots to take all your joy and fuck your wife??
If I just buy all my stuff on Temu now, do I just pay double and be all set?
Churchill said that about democracy, interesting you interchange the two.
Thank you for providing a source. I am not who you were replying too, but this exchange is a funny little microcosm of the conversation.
I doubt many will read the full piece, I doubt many know Roderic Day, and the text shown was fully opinion. There were not detailed citations in the text that would require checking, this wasn’t a study, there is basically nothing to the point outside the text itself, except the notoriety of the author, but the knee-jerk reaction seems to be to ask for a source. Would it change their opinion if it was written in the comment itself? Does it make it more legitimate if had been a published book? What level publisher does it require to make the case meaningful? Would it suddenly be a worthwhile point if this was taken from a New York Times op-ed?
To restate the point of the text, to a degree there is no reason to expect them to study the source of the quote, because they wield “Source?” like a club.
