Like Fedora Silverblue or OpenSuSE Aeon/Kalpa?
I’m pretty sure that warning used to be on the UEFI download page for Biostar boards, but they’ve completely redesigned it, so if it was them, it isn’t there anymore.
I’ve seen some Asus and MSI Boards getting only uefi updates marked as beta, with the next update, months later, also being marked as beta. With Asus, there have been allegation that they try to get out of warranty claims this way.
I’ve had less problems with Dell and Lenovo, which probably comes from them being more enterprise focused. I think the problem is that the for the average consumer, uefi updates are last on their mind when picking a board.
Apple, and, to a lesser degree, Lenovo and Dell, seem hardly comparable, since their focus isn’t selling mainboards as a stand-alone component.
This implies a world in which motherboard vendors actually regularly publish updates for their boards, or publish information about a board being officially end-of-life, which, for many consumer boards, just isn’t the case.
Some vendors still have a red flag on their support page discouraging uefi updates unless you’re actively experiencing problems.
You can get a well-working used bike for very cheap. New e-bikes tend to be pricey, used e bikes are often still pricey or come with caveats.
That’s also how it works for almost everyone I know in Germany. I think the last time I wasn’t able to just tap my card was before the pandemic. The only time I touched cash recently was when an old lady insisted on giving me some for fixing her computer. Feel like we’re mostly caught up (in that regard - don’t mention fax machines). Well, in the cities at least. Outside of them … I honestly dunno.
I think the most cash based country I’ve been to was Japan, funnily enough.
I’m also in Germany. Most banks offer either a credit or debit Visa or MasterCard, with the debit version usually being accepted like a credit card would be, excluding some edge cases.
Even Sparkassen seem to slowly be transitioning to that option, though it took them 10 years longer than everyone else. So, unless you don’t want to use a Visa or MasterCard for philosophical reasons (which I could understand, their stranglehold on the market is very annoying), your bank probably offers something that would be accepted there.
Oh yeah, I was thinking way more generally for some reason. I can certainly see that in isolation.
I’m not so sure about that. I feel if you already have a steam library, a pc handheld is kinda hard to beat. Depending on what you like, you might already own every game you’ll want for the Steam Deck. Even if you gotta buy everything new, Steam does sales more often and more aggressively than Nintendo.
If you’re not into paying for things, you can pirate on the Steam Deck. Who knows when the Switch 2 will be jailbroken.
For me, now that there are viable Linux Handhelds, I think I’d kind of struggle to justify one running a proprietary OS.
Why would you need an Internet connection to use GPS?
From hints in other comics - mostly not Linux, but Plan9/9front and the BSDs.
Hasn’t Rutte always been known for being able to handle Trump well? I’m pretty sure the only way to do that is kiss his ass in a way he understands, so this doesn’t seem too surprising.
It’s not a mono-rail, it’s an attempt at a better night-train car design. Will it have any success in a market where we already have nightjet, etc.? No idea. But this doesn’t seem all that pie in the sky.
I’ve been using this for a while. It’s neat. Just needed to turn of all the theming, it looked silly.
Yeah, I’m in Germany. It used to differ country to country, but since GDPR, you need consent, need to have/give a proper reason for the recording, need to store it in encrypted form, need to provide it to the other party if requested, need to delete it upon request, need to delete it when it has fulfilled it’s purpose. Might have forgotten some requirements.
Things are probably less stringent for one private person recording another, but I’d err on the side of caution and always ask for consent. And if you want to record someone doing something illegal, probably ask a lawyer whether that’d be admissable.
Depends on your jurisdiction. For some US states, only one of the recorded parties has to consent. In my jurisdiction, both parties have to consent.
Can definitely be useful for longer/complicated calls if you can’t take notes in the moment. I’m not suggesting you use it to break any laws, of course.
The stock Graphene app has call recording. Very few other options can do that.
Sorry to tell you, but you do appear to be rather obnoxious right now, though whether there is any intent behind it, I am unable to tell.
