Oh yeah, just watched an episode over dinner. It’s been fun.

Wow. I’ve never seen anything like that. Genuinely. Normally I have trouble just sitting down and watching something without my attention wandering at least a little but I’m not sure I’ve ever been in a situation where not only was I was paying 100% rapt attention but somehow it still didn’t feel like 100% was enough.
Yep
Sounds expensive tbh.
Yeah, this is why I said my homework increased
Ah, I thought you meant my homework increased. That makes way more sense now.
There are several that I linked it the Github list, including kirikiroid2 on the very top.
Because it said it was for playing visual novels it didn’t occur to me that it could also be meant to read normal books as well. I guess that’s a benefit of a format that supports so many features though!
What does koreader use to synchronize bookmarks across devices?
It checks the file hash or file name (depending on settings) and syncs your progress across devices that have matching files using a centralized server. There is also an option to self-host the server. Beyond that I don’t know the details, but it’s open-source so it shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out whatever other details you’re curious about.
Thanks for all your work on open-source reading technology!
Have you watched or read Blue Box? It’s about 1/3 sports anime 2/3 romance but I think the romance is better handled in Blue Box than in any other Shounen I’ve seen, other than maybe Dan Da Dan. That said you’ll likely want to wait for Season 2 since Season 1 left off in such an awkward spot. Season 2 has been announced but as far as I know there’s no release date.
My favorite sports anime is still a seinen though; Medalist is a hard one to beat.
That’s all very cool. Is there a good Android e-reader app that supports it? The features I most desire from an e-reader app are, in order of priority:
KOReader supports the first three, but not the fourth. If an app supported all four I would almost definitely switch.
Also, is there anyone distributing books in that format?
They have seinen and shoujo listed as genres in the thumbnail so they’re not exactly starting out strong.
I’ve seen plenty of great shows over the years but the most surprisingly great one would easily be Gundam Build Fighters. Since it’s a show about kids building plastic models and using sci-fi magic to fight them against each other I expected it to be little more than a soulless ad for Gunpla. What I found was an earnestly-written ode to the greatness of Gundam with some of the most charming characters I’ve ever seen. It actually ended up tying with Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin as my favorite Gundam show which is completely insane given how low my expectations were going in. I almost didn’t watch it.
I don’t really have a number 1. I love Gurren Lagann and Skip and Loafer equally, but for very different reasons. It’s impossible to compare the two. I guess the most recently I’ve rated an anime 10/10 would be LOOK BACK though. Very emotional movie.
It would have to be The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really REALLY Love You. Excellent writing, excellent character designs. You start out jealous of Rentarou, and then by the end of Season 2 you just wish you were dating him too.
Btw, since it is kinda rare for companies to sell this kind of thing DRM-free I just want to give a shoutout to https://j-novel.club/ for doing so. The selection could be better, but they have Apothecary Diaries which is pretty cool. English-only though.
I’d prefer to buy my books if possible, but publishers are assholes so I’ll keep this in mind if I can’t find a way to do so. Thanks!
This is definitely one to look forward to; the manga has been great! I’m extremely curious to see what the rakugo performances will be like, and whether & how they’ll use music with them.
Recommending Gintama is hilarious here. Gintama is great but if you don’t already know about Gintama you probably aren’t familiar enough with anime tropes and Japanese culture to get half the jokes in that show. It’s also absolutely nothing like Spy x Family.
First time? No idea. Maybe one of those iconic sad moments from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Most recent was LOOK BACK though. What an emotional movie.
Edit: first might’ve actually been Erased, in the scene at the end of Episode 8 where Kayo has a decent breakfast for the first time, which is really funny because growing up I usually just had breakfast cereal and that’s really not that great either. Maybe it was the music that got me. I liked Erased’s soundtrack.
Gonna be honest, that kinda hurt to watch. It was funny but the secondhand embarrassment was too strong.
Honestly I think the mangaka has a great sense of comedy that didn’t seem completely present in the small slice of the anime I watched so I’m not too worried.
I had always supposed the 4 great beasts were on good terms with one another, but I guess not. Regardless, humanity is looking more screwed than ever - especially if this is happening in the territories of the other great beasts as well.
Nozomi lashing about about the phone battery seemed pretty unnatural since she’s the one who handed her phone to a child. If she cared that much why did she hand it over to a child unsupervised in the first place?
Also, were sengoku-era trees made of styrofoam?
