Here is a list of all the things being an expert parent has taught me about business in the last ~12 hours.

The image presents two ‘facts’:

1. that Trump is refusing to unveil the Obama portrait.
2. That the image presented is the portrait in question.

If, by your claim, half of the image is inaccurate, that makes it a pretty questionable image.

I would also argue that posting this 9 years after it was current and relevant would make it inaccurate. The image, posted today, implies that Trump is currently refusing to unveil the portrait, which is not true.

I understand wanting to be mad at Trump. He’s a petty man-child. But this post is not constructive or informative. I am far more annoyed at him moving the portrait to glorify his failed assassination. Or his support of genocide. Or his deportation of US citizens. Or the pedophilia. I think it is important to call out misinformation when we see it, instead of tilting at windmills.

The portrait was unveiled during Biden’s presidency. While portraits are usually unveiled during the proceeding president’s term in office, Trumps first term did take place during Covid which may have restricted gatherings. It is entirely possible that Trump was behind the lack of unveiling, but it was noted on the topic of Trump’s presidential portrait that “the Biden administration says it has no direct say on whether or when his portrait could be hung up” (https://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/place-for-everyone-obamas-unveil-official-portraits-four-years-after-donald-trump-snub/4jb31i8qi), so claiming that Trump had control over Obama’s portrait seems questionable. [EDIT: I got my years wrong. COVID would not have been a factor in this situation as it occurred closer to the end of Trump’s first term. The quote regarding the Biden administration and Trump’s portrait still stands.]

Trump DID have the portrait moved more recently in order to display an image of himself after his assassination attempt (https://www.artnews.com/art-news/news/president-trump-replaces-obama-portrait-with-his-own-1234738557/), but that seems to be unrelated to this made up image.

The issue becomes: if they used Gen AI to create background filler text, can we be 100% certain it wasn’t used elsewhere in the production of the game?

If they really wanted background text, they should have paid someone to write some, or use Lorem Ipsum if they didn’t want to spend the money and no one would have cared.

The editors are right. Why would I want a paragraph of garbage at the top of the page that is clearly labeled “unverified”, that I then have to scroll past to find the information that people already tell me is non-credible because it’s not explicitly from a published journal.

I fucking hate when Google does it, but I don’t donate to Google. If Wikipedia starts making it harder to access the information they host, I’m not going to support that either.

It’s the same complaint. If I think someone is lying to me and they later admit to lying, my feelings aren’t different on the matter. They are justified. The fight for human rights doesn’t happen by just accepting when people publicly revoke their support for you.

Find something you enjoy (or might enjoy), and look for groups that do that thing. Groups that run regular events or classes or workshops are good because new people are always coming into the hobby. Keep in mind that just because you share interests with someone does not mean you will be instant friends, or friends at all. That’s why the activity is important. You can focus on doing something fun while you connect with new people, rather than stressing about if this specific person is going to be your friend.

At least it gives people who are using their switches a chance to buy one, instead of them selling out in seconds to a network of bot accounts before winding up on eBay for $300+ the following week.

It’s not the perfect system, but I can understand why they are doing it.

Likely there would be more evidence. Eye witness accounts of the two parties together around the time of the incident; photos taken before or after the assault; Hospital records; Police reports made that were not followed up at the time; Texts; Call logs; surveillance video. There is a lot of evidence that can support an accusation like this.

As to why it’s been so long, coming forward after events like this can be terrifying. People who have been assaulted can hold a lot of self-blame. They can feel alone in their trauma, and the chorus of “she was asking for it” and other bs would be a big deterrent from coming forward. Isolation and stigma are a big reason that powerful people have gotten away with being abusive monsters for so long. It’s also why multiple accusations seem to crop up at the same time. The claimants see others who have suffered like them and feel less isolated and more supported in their claims.

The question is: Should I feel guilty about using AI? Regardless of the rest of the video, the answer is Yes.

On top of all the issues you mentioned, AI is a plagiarism machine that is diluting Art and Language. It has infected academic writing and is being used in fields where its hallucinations could be fatal.

AI is a massive drain on our environment, what with the amount of energy it uses every time someone asks it to draw another naked anime girl with 12 fingers. But people use it daily for the tiniest task, because being too lazy to read an email is a great reason to fuck the planet.

I 100% agree that we should stand against the people who are delivering us this slop, but to say we shouldn’t be ashamed of being a part of that is wrong.

Should you be ashamed of using AI? Yes. Absolutely.
