I’m pushing 40 so I’m not young but I’ve actually been buying more games lately thanks to being patient and not rushing out to buy AAA games along with switching from console to PC, gotta love Steam sales. I just bought two games I’ve been wanting to play for $30.
Gotcha. Yeah, credit card helped me and then I was fortunate enough that a family member was able to loan me money for the class, I used that money to do the secured loan and further build my credit. I paid said family member back when I got the collateral back from my credit union.
Not always or maybe not a high enough limit depending on what you want to buy. I had the same problem as OP about 6 years ago, I tried to borrow $3000 from my Credit Union to take a class and advance my career. They wouldn’t give me the loan so the options I was presented with were: a secured loan where I paid the full amount I wanted to borrow up front as collateral and then when I paid off the loan I got the collateral back (I didn’t have $3,000, hence the loan); or, I could sign up for a credit card with a $1000 limit.
I personally prefer RDR1 to RDR2. $30 is a little high for game that old, I think $20 is the sweet spot. RDR2 has too much filler for me, which seems to be Rockstars MO in recent years. RDR1 is more straightforward with just the right amount of side quests thrown in.
My brother lives in the Netherlands and he has a kid, a steady job, and a house and he got them all around the age of 40, so this headline tracks. To be fair though, I don’t know how steady his job is since it’s teaching.
I haven prescription sunglasses. Generally I don’t wear them inside, occasionally I’ll forget that I have them until after I’m in the store though. My eyesight without glasses is terrible so I leave them on. Sorry if I look like an asshole but I would have trouble navigating my way and finding what I need without them.

You’re not wrong and she should get her money while she can but this is what people like Trump and The Heritage Foundation want. Push the government workers out of the public sector and into the private one, those private sector corporations will then get nice fat government contracts to perform the work that the government was already doing. Since it’s a private company doing the work, the bottom line and shareholders will always be more important than the work. In the end, we will have worse services that will cost more money.
Someone in my life works for FEMA and has told me that they have seen the big defense contractors posting jobs similar to the one they do, for more money.
Yes, in this one very specific situation, enforcing the rules would’ve helped. It’s still doesn’t change the fact that if it was an adults only campground, this one very specific situation wouldn’t have happened in the first place.
Children aren’t a protected class and there are plenty of business and establishments that they are not allowed to be in, usually because it’s illegal for underage people to be there. But, what is wrong with a private business, like a campground or a a restaurant being adults only? How is detrimental to the kids?
It could’ve been a radio, but it wasn’t. It was kids screaming and parents not taking responsibility for their children. To me as the one in that situation, it certainly seemed like the kids and their parents were the problem.
The article she talks about child free campgrounds so I felt this was an appropriate anecdote to share.
I also wasn’t advocating that that campground should have been child free, my story was meant to illustrate why some people prefer adult only spaces.

While it is nice not to be around screaming children, I’ve never thought of it as a luxury. Even “luxury” seats on airplanes can’t promise to be child free. Children aren’t a protected class as far as I know so there should be no problem with private businesses that want to exclude them.
I have no kids but I love kids and I like being around kids sometimes but, sometimes I like it when they aren’t around. I did a camping trip last week and one of my friends left early because a family showed up to their site after dark and the parents let the kids run around and scream even after we explained that it was after quiet hours. She couldn’t take it any more and left in the middle of the night.
So in my opinion, there need to be places that are child free or at least days and times when kids aren’t allowed. Many of my local museums offer 21 and over evenings where they serve alcohol and you can enjoy the exhibits without children around and it’s a very nice compromise.

I was excited when they revealed that he was from Groningen. My brother met his wife when he was studying in Germany, she’s Dutch and they got married in Groningen. Beautiful city. That and Ghent were my favorite places we visited on that trip.
