3 months agoYou can make it work using ReVanced. Pretty straightforward process too. I do go back to reddit for some stuff where Lemmy hasn’t hit critical mass yet, but they get no participation from me.

5·4 months agoNot just with the French, the same is happening all over Europe. I’ve heard from a first hand source that the US embassy in Finland has already canceled contracts with companies that refused the demand.

5·5 months agoI think it was a case I heard about on Criminal podcast where a man who turned himself in for having killed a man a long time ago and took full responsibility ended up pleading not guilty at his lawyer’s insistence. He thought there was a reasonable chance for a more lenient sentencing that way than pleading guilty. Can’t remember what the reasoning was.
11·6 months agoRussia has particularly many attractive women? Russia has many women that use silly amounts of makeup, but this is probably the first I hear of Russia considered having an unusual amount of attractive women.
US gives significantly less per capita than almost all western European countries, and even less as percentage of GDP. This is not a case of the US being the only one who does something. It’s the US doing so much less than they could, and everyone else in a comparable position is. And now taking even that away.

3·6 months agoIt’s nice to go to the office from time to see the colleagues, but it’s horrible for efficiency. And, truth be told, I’d be a lot less happy when asked to drop by if I wasn’t reimbursed the travel expenses, paid for the travel time, and per diem for the trip. Office is a couple of hours away.
I don’t think Oracle Java is even supported by the software I work with anymore. I was amazed to learn last year that one of our customers was only just switching to Openjdk. Every one I’ve worked with made the transition years ago.
Going some 20-25 years back I recall some of my friends from English speaking countries using it as gender neutral, and I guess once I wrapped my head around it, that’s how it’s been for me. But your mileage may certainly vary.
