You are correct. Unfortunately in many sectors in the US that’s not what’s happening. Of course, it’s not true across the board. There are exceptions, like the NTSB. But then the NTSB can only make recommendations, and it’s enforcement counterparts, like the FAA, have no teeth. The FAA is now in essence run by the airlines the agency is supposed to regulate.

And until enough blood is spilled, this will continue

In all seriousness, I really enjoy watching the show/movie first, and then reading the book. I’m not disappointed about the things the show left out, which are often necessary exclusions for pacing or limitations in visual storytelling vs internal narration. And then, when I read the books, it’s like I’m getting the director’s cut with commentary. It adds depth to characters and sometimes has deleted scenes.

Of course this isn’t universally true. I will say it worked spectacularly for The Expanse

…and this is the puffy-faced fizzblood. We have learned many interesting things about Terra from these creatures. For instance, while they often cry blood, occasionally their eyes will just, you know, burst. Seems to be pretty random, we think they evolved to burst their eyes to confuse predators
