As a Dutchie, I was amazed at the night trains in Sweden and Finland.

Especially Finland was crazy: 92 eur for two in a private sleeper to get from Helsinki to Lapland (with interrail) is nothing compared to a seat in the sleeper train from Amsterdam to Vienna (50+ eur p.p. for a six person dorm).

Although coming back it’s weird that we whine about the Dutch railroads. Those are crazy reliable, I must never realised.

I like two weeks of vacation. Just enough to lose track of time, and just small enough so you can do multiple per year. With 25 holidays / year I get two smaller vacations and a few days off here and there.

We’ve had station wagons for a very long time now. A big Ford Mondeo we had was a relatively low car, without an enormous bonnet.

Cars continue to get wider, longer and higher off the ground (there’s this Kia that looks like you’re driving around in a fridge), whilst the stuff we move within them isn’t exactly increasing. it’s just bigger for the sake of being bigger, and that’s causing issues in the streets.

It’s not a war crime, it was a warning bomb.

When I started working for my current employer, I was surprised by how much ram my VDI has. We’re not allowed to code on our own devices (but those are still specced out) but 64 Gs of ram in a virtual desktop was a welcome environment to work in.
