Wait, not like that!
Wait, not like that!
I always feel like Diddy controls better than Donkey somehow (even though that’s probably untrue), and the fact that he holds barrels in front means you can safely run forward into an enemy without getting hurt. That made all the difference to me as a kid.
Plus he wears a cool hat!
Best shit I’ve seen all week.
I completely forgot about that scene!

I don’t know who downvoted you, but you’re absolutely right. The porn is an inevitable outcome, even if it makes some people uncomfy.
There’s no way that Disney isn’t aware of that, and I would bet they’re leaning into it very slightly. There’s a dance club scene for crying out loud lmao
I felt like I was alone in being frustrated at this trend. However I found a bit of relief to discover, through messing around in a Win98 virtual machine, that they were occasionally using the term “app” back then as well. Of course it wasn’t as ubiquitous as it is now, but whatever.
Also I thought I’d never see the Xbox kid meme again. What an unexpected throwback!
To the same point: for a second I was astonished that they even stopped walking for a second, before realizing that it was the video feed.
Absolutely unrepentant people.
Now they’ve got these cute lil guys fighting each other 😭
Well, better than letting them bring harm to humans. Slava Ukraini!
I try to use em dashes when I can, but I think they’re used wrong in the comment above (IIRC they’re not supposed to be surrounded by spaces, but I could be wrong). What tips me off is the unambiguously “LLM” narrative voice and structure (“let’s break it down”, followed by an ordered list). Not that a human can’t type that, but sometimes it seems like ChatGPT is incapable of spitting out words in any other structure.
I’m curious, on a legit/fanservice spectrum, where would you place Kill La Kill? It shows tons of skin, but it’s a legit part of the story. Of course it’s a dumb premise, but they lean into it anyway, and it does drive the plot in several instances.
As an aside, I enjoyed it a lot because I absolutely love Studio Trigger and their art style, but I’ve stopped recommending it to anyone because the conversation always goes in one direction. I’m not surprised, of course, but I wish people had the ability to resist fixating on that one element and appreciate the cinematography, character development, music, voice acting (including Nobuyuki Hiyama!), and all the other things that make it great…
Reminds me of Mitch Hedberg’s banana joke.
No love for Bawls? When I was younger the best LAN parties had Bawls. I think they still make it; no idea if it tastes the same.
I think it’s more like he fell near his sword such that it went harmlessly in between his arm and side, played dead for a few seconds, then checked through one half-open eye to see if anyone bought it.
I mean I know most of this admin are complete buffoons, but for some reason I can’t give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe because it took this long to own up to it, and other people in the group chat denied multiple times that it even happened.
Oh definitely, it’s just that when I searched the communities, the only result was on .world
I’d love to see an active expanddong community here. Looks like .world has one but it’s super dead :(
That’s exactly how I articulated my thoughts to a friend the other day. Authenticity is paramount to my jaded brain. Besides, I’ve already seen the best TV series of all time in Breaking Bad, so why watch any more studio productions after that?
Old MST3K episodes don’t count 🙃
You’re right, the tracks are pretty short. But since the game is from my childhood it just has that special something in my heart, you know? And I also agree that the controls could have been better. If you make it to the part where he jumps into the robot dinosaur (my PFP, I forgot to add), there’s a nice variety of weapon pickups to keep the combat at least a tiny bit interesting.
Either way, I’m glad you gave it a shot!
I must admit, nostalgia has an outsized influence on my enjoyment of the things I grew up with, but I’m glad other people are giving it a chance! Like the other person said, the music is a little repetitive, but a lot of games were like that back then. Not everyone can be Koji Kondo!
There’s a game for the NES called Dynowarz and the main character’s name is Professor Proteus. The game is… not great. I loved it as a kid even though I was terrible at it. The music rules though, and I’ll die on that hill.
I’ve never seen a single other person talk about this game since I played it back in the early 90s so I wanted to give it some love 😊
IIRC he was reluctant to even make a sequel to the first one. I’m so glad he did, but I honestly haven’t been interested in the series since We Love.
Still, I’m glad new players will be able to enjoy the utter silliness that it has to offer!
