exactly !
I like to do vegan “lardons” / vegan bacon bits with it, nothing too complicated, I cut the tofu in little bits, pour them in a medium hot greased pan (it works better with firm thawed tofu), and i wait until they get a bit golden. In the meantime I prepare hot water for some smokey tea (I dont have liquid smoke where i live). Then when i think they are well fried, I poor over some soy sauce and I sauté them, coating them evenly. And lastly I add my smoked tea, i’d say for measurement the tofu should be covered, and a little bit of oil. I wait for the tofu to drink up the tea and oil (if there’s too much i remove the excess) and voila !! I put this in pastas, salad or tart ^^

Hahaha, but actually when i see what’s going on in the real world and how much people sleep on it, it does feels like the greatest satire ! I really don’t see much a difference between the book your describing and what’s really happening…

ah yeah, that’s the trap when you try to answer such a leading question… I totally forget to see the big picture in all aspects of such an infrastructure !

Yeah ! I guess he IS missing the point ! And so was I trying to respond to a “technical oriented” question with a technical oriented answer… the labor camp bus metaphor is like a slap in the face, thanks for the insight, it’s really interesting

Thanks for these insights! Very very interesting.
As I’m keen to self-host as soon as I can afford it, I’ll bear this in mind. The immediate conclusion, in any case, is that large-scale infrastructure consumes far more energy than self-hosting ever could, and this is down to all the terrible choices they’ve made that led us to abandon them.
As for the long term, having read your replies, I find it interesting to think that this minor drawback can be resolved or managed through green energy decisions and simply better management of needs. I was reading the article posted earlier on ‘The small tech neighbourhood’ and I can see that all of this is, on the contrary, very proactive and sustainable.
Thanks very much – all this information is really useful (and should be widely shared, for all beginners like me or potential future beginners like my friend) !
Honestly, It’s sometimes hard to have a constructed point of view to encourage the federated way when the big corps have had so much power on our reflections… Like I know I’m fighting against this or that but the reasons why are somehow blurred, and even if my senses tell me something is wrong, i still have to search and ask questions to get words to support my ideas. The words don’t come naturally, and it’s frustrating when the opposite message is constantly being hammered home everywhere
That took me by surprise 😂😂
Hahaha i DO see it now that you mention it 😂
i LOVE ittttt 🤣 thank you so much i spent so much time scrolling just now 😂
Ahhh, i hesitated so much to post this because i thought nobody would see this but me and i was probably right 😂 (i dont know why, but i often see faces on objects haha)

😍 noice, my pleasure

😁🙌 So happy to be able to contribute actively, the whole instance is such a treat, i feel like a child seeing so many people sharing the same values / intests !

Ah nice, thanks for the link ! okay, I understand, thanks for the explanations, i’m still trying to understand the complexity of the fediverse, but it seems so logical now ! Also i have contacted @SolarMonkey@slrpnk.net to help mod the art and aesthetic communities, and we were wondering how adding someone as a mod worked.

Thanks for that excellent post, I have a questions, what’s the “alternative f-hub link” to donate exclusively to slrpnk ? Also another one is : when you say technically help those community transition to their own instance, it means that they will no longer be part of slrpnk even though they are solarpunk oriented ? Would that make them less accessible ?
Omg this is SUCH a treat 😍😌🔥

Thanks for the post, it was much appreciated, i hope everyone is doing well ! About the no border/no country community rule, I guess some kind of compromise would be to create one community for all countries ? Like people would have a place to post in there language on the matter of solarpunk/nature/techno hippyness in theit country, and maybe sign the title with a country flag and/or the country code, so it’s easily recognizable, and that way everyone can feel like its culture has a little place (as it is an english speaking instance) ? It’s just an idea, also i’ve not been here for so long so if it already exists dont mind me ~
Hahaha petition to call ourselves the techno hippies as our official slrpnk user name from now on 🤣🤣🙏
The logo is great !! For the banner I’m wondering… the banner will kind of give the tone of the community, so i’m wondering what kind of activism are we talking about ? We have some protest type of activism but also some local communal actions/initiatives activism… if it is all kind of activism it could be cool that the banner implied multiple form of activism ^^ Also if there’s any ideas I’m more than willing to draw an illustration for it 🧑🏾🎨
If i may, Eu, no price in mind but i’d say not pricy for the show (like not the priciest or luxury oriented), and if possible to add a particularity, can carry animals (like a big dog ?) ?
