I’m an off grid subsistence farmer and an anti-materialist. It’s exactly because I “educated myself” that I’m out here. Cats are pretty fucking low on the list of harm the humans cause to the environment…they only exist as a “problem” in fake environments created where humans mass together.

My argument is you’re spending way too much energy thinking about outdoor cats, which are irrelevant to the larger argument of harm to the environment.

It’s a distraction from the problem that humans themselves pose to the environment…you’d get a lot more bang for your buck and the cat problem would take care of itself it if you were less materialistic, for example.

If you think you’re doing a goddamn thing by keeping your cat indoors, while at the same time running on the hamster wheel on consumerism…I have news for you.

It’s amazing to me that - almost to a person - these MAGA and their sympathizers all claim to think for themselves and look at “all the sources” but they don’t ever notice they’re in lockstep with each other.

I’m in freakin Canada…so anyone who supports MAGA here is a brain rotted traitor in the first place…but there’s tons of them. My neighbour…before the pandemic was a normal dude…no real political compass…just a rich guy who was pretty harmless ideologically, at the end of the day. After the pandemic he has this script: “I used to be liberal…but liberals went crazy, we can’t say anything anymore, so now I support Trump, don’t like vaccines, love Elon Musk, love Tucker Carlson”. My brother…1000km away - same script with variations: “I used to be liberal, but you can’t say anything anymore so I support Trump. I hate vaccines, I love Elon Musk and I love Adam Carolla.”

His entire job is to get on TV right away to produce sound bites for the MAGAsphere. He’s not talking to you or me.

What I get tired of is critics being lazy and just calling everything hypocrisy. Like…bitch…you don’t need to live in a cave to care about something in the environment.

PETA are annoying, and it’s easy to get all Incel about them…but what they want is pretty straightforward and nobody should be confused.

I mean…I’m sure it came from something I said to it…all LLMs are good for is being agreeable and reflecting what you want back to you…provided what you ask for is simple.

There’s a lot of a disagreement to be had here…but AI is a topic where we all pretty much seem to agree.

I’ve experimented with AI (so-called chatbots) and the best that can be said about it is it’s a tool…not even a good tool…for starting a project when you’re stuck. It’s absolutely unreliable for anything approaching a final project. I guess…it’s really great if you enjoy being pissed off that it can both mine valid obscure information, while at the same time lie to your face over and over…but then do a 180 on something that’s true or a lie just because you tell it to.

The only value I got out of AI was it made me laugh out loud once…genuinely. I realized it had created this entire fake universe when it was supposed to be researching something real…and like a crazy person I was scolding it…when it was apologing it told me “I’m sorry…I understand that I’m a bit like a toaster that was advertised as a chef…but really all I do is try to burn your house down”. I thought it was hilarious and appropriate.

Right? I know more shit than some people on some topics…and less shit than other people on other topics.

Expertise might be what they were going for…but they can’t say that because AI can’t have expertise on anything.

“Intelligence” is such a dumb word.

On it’s face it gives Ukraine NATO membership while saving face for Russia because they didn’t officially join…in exchange for legitimizing and getting the land bridge to Crimea…I’d imagine there’s cash in it for Trump somewhere in the fine-print…and next years’ Nobel peace prize.

Those referendums were clearly staged by the military…the Crimean one laughably so, with 97% support. You’re also telling on yourself when you use odd language like the annexations weren’t for resource extraction. Who said they were? Crimea is a port and the others are (were) industrial hubs and a land border to the former.

You know very well Putin, Medvedev and many others have repeatedly referred to Poland and the Baltics as occupied & openly bloviated about annexing them. They’ve literally massed forces on the border with them, and every other piece of “evidence” one could possible need…overt or implied. Trying to deny Russkiy Mir is just weird. I didn’t even bring up Finland and all the other regions Russian officials have commented on.

They would have grabbed Ukraine and the Baltics, at least…and maybe Poland (also totally full of Nazis) if the west didn’t “step in”. It is what it is. Just because they’re shit at war doesn’t mean they wouldn’t do it in a vacuum.

Yes…she’s ended up at rallies that were Nazi rallies even though she thought they were pro Ukraine rallies…but the country isn’t some monolith of Nazism like you’re saying it it. The Nazis are a powerful minority. Nazis love war…on both sides of the border they’re laughing.
