Yeah, but finding it the second time is the problem. For most things I want to get back to the part of the app I was on. Google cal is simple, so doesn’t have that issue. But aws console would. And most other apps too.

If the major OSs could treat a web browser instance like a separate app, I wouldn’t hate it so much. Like I want a dedicated thing on my taskbar/dock that will always take me to my google calendar. I hate having to search through browser windows (even when named) to find the right one.
I use a seperate browser for aws console to make it quicker to find.
But I do love being able to have more than one tab per app (like for aws console) which most standalone apps don’t support.
I know you are a person who is trying to help others in a variety of ways. And I do applaud you for that. But ignoring the realities of others is the same that many are doing to you. Open your mind to those realities and you may be able to use that information to come up with better solutions instead of just saying other people need to magically change who they are.
Well ok. Since your last two comments were so devoid of detail that they could have been added to litterally any thread on reddit… I guess you aren’t interested in any ideas that don’t match your current opinion.
I understand. It is very difficult for the majority of people to understand how other peoples brains work when it is different than theirs. For example, people without mental disabilities usually don’t understand why people with them can’t just use willpower to overcome the disability.
That’s a tough one. The drive to mate is very strong. It was critical to the sucsess of the species. Controlling thoughts in that direction is near impossible. So how do you balance that in environments where focus is important. I honestly don’t have any idea for that.
If you are only talking about controllin actions, then I am on board with you. Though men are taught to do that to some extent. They generally don’t just grab women by the hair and drag them to thier man cave to rape them. Well generally. It’s just they aren’t taught that the line should be way back around the point ofvnot expressing any of thier thoughts without consent. Which you correctly point out is tough when media constantly shows them that the agressive male gets laid.
I’m not so sure. Once the Republicans no longer have the democrats to fight against, they will fight against each other. This might happen as well in the leaving blue states, but I feel like the democrates don’t hold as big of a majority in most of them. So they are already used to it. And they aren’t so much the party of fire and brimstone. So more likely they would try to do all the social reforms and just fall on thier faces.
A lot of people don’t realize how many times the problem they are solving has already been solved. But after being in the industry for 3 decades, very few things people are working on haven’t been done before. They just get put together in different combinations.
As for AI, I have found it decent at wruting one time scripts to gather information I need to make design decisions. And it’s a little quicker when I need to look up a syntax for a language or like a resource name for terraform. But even one off scripts I sometimes have to ask it if a while loop wouldn’t be better and such.
Fortunately, 90% of coding is not hard problems. We write the same crap over and over. How many different creat an account and signin flows do we really need. Yet there seem to be an infinite amount, and each with it’s own bugs.
Sadly, the lack of junior devs means my job is probably safe until I am ready to retire. I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, yeah for me. On the other sad for the new grads. And sad for software as a whole. But software truely sucks, and has only been enshitifying worse and worse. Could a shake up like this somehow help that? I don’t see how, but who knows.
I am always amazed anyone takes a job as a coder at amazon. But their search results show it isn’t our best or brightest.
Maybe this is a contributing factor to why soo many young people have trouble with the idea of consent. They grew up with crap like this constantly ignoring thier right to say no.
Marriage contracts just mean more extended family to help. :)
Not really poly, just more fluid about changing relationships. Basically, more short term, not life long, commitments. When it isn’t enough for a person, move on. And that shouldn’t be considered a failing of the other. People change, interests change, newness wears off. That’s natural. Society considering unmarried men as unstable, and unmarried women as somehow broken is just not right.
If there are kids involved it gets more complicated of course. Then it gets into some kind of marriage contract or something. But raising kids these days is broken too. You almost need a professional involved full time just to keep up with all the things kids really need. Most of us parents just can’t do it all, both from a time/energy perspective and a skill perspective.
All said and done, the concept that people should be monogamous isn’t natural. Look at the animal kingdom. It’s pretty rare.
Some people just don’t fit that mold. But society tends to look down on them. So for some, bucking the system is probably a source of joy and achievement that they want to share. For the listeners, humans often go along with things to avoid awkward interactions. Then go home later and say to someone, “I can’t believe she just said that.”
Seriously, I think that fits. Many people (not all) cheat because they are unfulfilled in life. And the same cohort also might go to class reunions for the same reason… to try to find fulfillment.
Star trek 6, “well the thing’s gotta have a tailpipe.”
Enter Maverick, ready to fly the old jets.
Testing it is how I found out it didn’t work. Lol. Got findroid and it worked great on the plane.
The democrates are like the TSA. Theater.
