  • Tbf, if they didn’t show him writing with his right hand, this would all be acceptable.

I write with my left hand, but play guitar right handed, pitch a baseball right handed, do basically everything right handed, except usung my left to write and do knife work in the kitchen.

Left handed folks are often ambidextrous.

Not to mention he’s religious and back a number of years, you weren’t allowed to be left handed, so maybe that is why he writes with his right hand in the scene, and maybe why it’s such a liberation for him to come out as left handed? Idk

  • Pre covid, I was pre approved for a home. I had lied and told them I had $3K for a down payment.

I couldn’t save three grand. Rent was 40% my income, as was childcare. I made $20/hr in a “grown up” job, the type of work my uncles and aunts and parents bought houses with.

The gorgeous $167K dollar house (2016) who’s only down side was it was 45mins from work, … is now worth nearly $600K. I’m jealous of whoever ended up buying it that year.

  • As someone who lives in a prefab, I really have to disagree with them being the answer. Unless they stop using vinyl-on-gypsum and the cheapest materials possible…

Water damage is a major issue in these kinds of homes. They’re not made with actual wood or conventional building materials, and fall apart so easily. Replacement parts are not standard, making it extra costly and difficult to repair.

Adding, when I walk into an actual house, I can feel the difference as I walk through.

  • Picking produce from my garden, and cooking meals for my family, are the only things that bring me joy these days. My therapist runs a craft group, it doesn’t bring joy but it is helping with a sense of community.

Acknowledging that suffering is just as important as pleasure in the human condition, I’ve come to a peace with suffering. It’s just our turn in time. Oddly enough, facing the suffering head on with acceptance that the world has balance, has made a lot of room for joys in my small, daily life.

I don’t know when the last day with my family will be, and so, it is easy to appreciate our time today, basically.

  • These are my favorite foods, wow it looks good! The veg looks fantastic, so does the meat, cast irons rock. I also don’t have a grill, but the cast iron does a good job charing stuff.

Corn has been in season, so I’ve been shucking two of them into the pan with a touch of oil until they brown and cook. I use a lid and steam it a bit at the end. It takes a bit of time to get roasted right. Once done, I like to cut the corn off the cobb and add it to salads, this ones my favorite,

diced: 2 fresh jalapenos, 1 whole red bell pepper, 1 large cucumber, or two small, 1/2 white or red onion, cilantro, 2 ears of roasted corn + Oil, lime juice, salt, pepper and enough paprika you can see the color

  • I have participated in No Mow May for three years now. I also have a spot in the yard I let be free (weeded it for invasives) for the same amount of time.

This summer, for the first time since I have lived here, exsists an abundance of fireflys in my yard. They are everywhere, in a way I’ve never seen since I was a child.

No Mow May, (even if just a part of your yard) gives insects a place. Bugs live in the leaves and natural debris, by keeping it undisturbed, from fall to winter is important for many bugs’ survival.

If you like bugs, consider dedicating space in your yard for them to live. Don’t keep grass in the typical american perfect lawn way. I suggest not to spray, and look at native grasses and plants first when seeking your landscaping needs.

I’ve noticed a real difference this year in my yard. Maybe its some coincidence, I don’t know. Either way I’m happy to see lightning bugs again

I have some kind of alopecia, as a woman. It all started falling out when I was 14. I kept a pixie cut, dyed blonde, for over 15 years because of it. Crying in front of the mirror was inevitable all through those years.

Wasn’t until my early 30s it started to… idk, get a little fuller, but it’s still thin. Luckily, I also stopped giving a fuck about it about then. I stopped cutting it, I stopped dying it. I now have long hair for the first time since I was 14.

When I met my husband, he wore a hat, indoors. Whenever we go out he wears a hat still. He has thinning hair up top. The man’s so tall I hardly see it. I hardly notice it, and it doesn’t look bad anyway. I realized he feels the same for me, and most people aint gonna judge you for something like that. Why do we judge ourselves so harshly?

Anyway, Topix makes a fiber powder. I cried with joy the first time I used it. It’s not a permanent solution nor an everyday one, but if you have an event to attend, I highly recommend it for a boost of confidence.
