Thanks for the suggestion! I know he didn’t coin the term but he did write an article on his website trying to get people to use it. He definitely did grab it from the past but either didn’t realize or didn’t care that it has fallen out of usage.

I wasn’t alive in the 90s and I wasn’t aware of trans stuff until I started exploring my gender in 2019 so as a result I am kinda ignorant of the way things were in the 00s and earlier. I really don’t see things like trans* and trans+ being used today, similarly to how you don’t really see people using antiquated terms for transgender either.

Today what I see instead is trans and GNC (gender nonconforming) which serves the same purpose of being a broad umbrella term but is more accurate.

As a computer nerd myself, the wildcard aspect makes me feel like trans* includes things like transportation and transghwujdjrudndndjjd which I don’t like.

Anyways, its not up to cishet person to decide what term should be used to refer to transgender and gnc people. I have a unfinished project, which is a website compiling a bunch of info and resources for trans and gnc people. I came across the genderbread at some point but I decided to research the creator before adding it to the site and that is how I discovered the above info about him.

He also tried to popularize the term trans* despite not being trans himself nor having the approval of actual trans people. (Trans* is a useless term since trans already includes all trans people. Trans* causes people to falsely think that trans is an uninclusive term)

That reminds me of when I was graduating college a few months ago and it was my first time on campus since I did all my classes online. We had a rehearsal in this theater building and I didn’t know where to go so I followed this group of women I saw. Turned out they were just heading for the restroom but one of them held the door open for me and internally I was like “eeeeeee yay! They see me as a woman!” Didn’t have to go to the bathroom though so I kinda just walked in and then walked right out lol.

Yes! Enbies are valid and there are so many ways to transition. I always say to just do what makes you happy because everyone is different and there is no “correct” way, just different ways.

As a trans woman I wish that others in the community would be treated better. Trans means all trans people and that means enbies, men, and women.

I think that people generally associate trans with trans women because of the media. If we are scary then we are a more effective scapegoat. It’s easier to make trans women scary because they can brand us as perverted men.

I am also aware that there are significantly more trans women in online spaces than trans men. I also see people complaining about more trans women being moderators but of course that’s going to be the case when we make up a larger percentage of the user base. I have no idea what to do about this. I would like there to be as many trans men as there are trans women in these spaces but idk what can even be done to achieve that. I talked about this before with a trans man I know and we both had zero idea how to do that.

When I was in middle school I walked straight through the middle of a fight. Even went right between the two dudes who were throwing punches at each other. I was really confused as to why people were bunched up in the hallway until an old teacher who used to be in the military came out and started yelling at the top of his lungs.

One thing I remember is gaining muscle after working out for a few months and feeling this really confusing sadness when I noticed that my shoulders got broader. I was so confused as to why so many guys liked being muscular but it just made me really depressed instead. Took me a while to realize that that strange feeling was actually gender dysphoria.

Yeah. I dual boot on an old laptop just in case I happen to need windows for something and sometimes the windows partition puts itself at the top of the boot order, but my Debian partition is still there and I just have to put it back at the top.

I made my own estrogen mod that doesn’t have a dependency on create. It also has stuff for trans mascs and enbies as well. It’s a little outdated though cause I’ve been busy with college and stuff but I’d like to update it at some point.

The sound it makes is exactly where the name comes from. Also there were people in soda territory also calling it pop as well way back in the day. That’s why the term “soda pop” exists.

100% some people are genuinely shitty people and their behavior would happen even if society wasn’t misogynist, classist, etc.

My goal wasn’t to alleviate them from responsiblity. I do not believe it is their fault for growing up in a society that is against them, but it is their fault for not thinking crtically and choosing to perpetuate that hate once they are an adult.

Also I was thinking of abuse on a societal level, not an individual level, but that does contribute. (I probably could have used a better word. I do agree that abuse implies individual rather than societal.) I find the fact that so much misogyny and other hate exists within the overton window to be repulsive. Trump said “grab her by the pussy,” (plus a bunch of other terrible things) and got into the oval office not once, but twice, which shows that society has a major problem with finding hate acceptable. Why people find that hate acceptable I imagine varies between demographics.

I still do stand by my previous comment, which is my thoughts on why specifically women voted the way they did, although I agree it has room to be expanded on more.

I think a major part of it is that people simply aren’t thinking things through enough. They should be questioning society’s misogyny, racism, etc, but for some reason they choose to accept it as normal.

Abuse towards women is unfortunately so normalized by society that I bet most of those women don’t realize how much they have been manipulated since childhood to be against their own autonomy, especially if they grew up in a religious environment.

It’s possible that women of minority demographics voted more blue because some realized how anti-(their specific minority) republicans are but, just like the white women, weren’t put off by republicans’ misogyny.
