Poland. It’s not that summer is amazing - it just sucks the least.

It’s hot and everything wants to eat you, but it’s colorful and sunny and summer nights are ahhhhhh…

Autumns tend to be pretty. And rainy as hell. Meh.

Winter was pretty when I was a kid. Nowadays it’s autumn, minus pretty and plus balls freezin off. No snow, fuck you.

Spring is wet and green, but also cold. Good contender against summer, barely loses IMO.

Edit: Additional context - when it gets cloudy and grey in Poland, it gets fucking uber depressing. I dunno what it is, but almost can feel thr grey communist past creepin up…

Not who you asked but I live in Poland and our self-checkouts are pretty flawless in my opinion. Simple combination of scale, bardcode scanner and touch screen and voila. Most shops that have them, have at least four of them. Supermarkets often have 6-8 and dedicated employee to oversee them, sometimes with their own touch screen and ability to bypass age checks or weight problems from their stand without moving to you.

They only scream if you scan something age-restricted or if weight doesn’t match. The second problem was much bigger in beginning, nowadays it’s actually rare.

Edit: Oh, and we do have that scan-the-receipt to leave. Again, early on they were…less than flawless, but today they work ok. Heck, one supermarket got it installed only a year ago and damn that scanner is snappy af. Sometimes scans code before I manage to fully position it xD

  • But part of the reason Apple is dominant is their closed garden approach - that is literally part of their product. I cannot understand how that’s a bad thing. For me it’s akin to a flute manufacturer producing flutes and everything is okay until they get popular. Suddenly they are hated because they don’t produce flutes incorporating parts from different manufacturers? Even if they produce them to allow exchanging the parts?

Same for Microsoft and their Internet Explorer case. I didn’t understand back then I don’t understand now why they lost lawsuit if they didn’t, IIRC, block you from installing anything else.

It would be different matter for me if it was for example Windows explictly blocking you from downloading another browser than Internet Explorer. That’s abuse. But just having a default made by the same company being bad?
