The fact that Microsoft is a surviving company is insane. They have always had a bad product and worse support. But they had US government support so of course they became the world standard. It’s never been about the “best” making it to the top.

Personally I believe the world was a better place before the Internet existed. It was more personal, more local. The billionaire tech class was created by the Internet and are actively damaging the world for their own personal gain. Good mental health is almost non-existent for those who are always online - and that is a purposeful construct so that they will be online more and create even more revenue for the tech billionaires. The initial romantic notion that the internet would provide education and information and connection has been dwarfed by the damage it has caused. The most ‘internet raised generation - Gen Z’ is notoriously disconnected and isolated compared to previous generations. In short, if the Internet ceased to exist tomorrow, a decade from now the world would probably be a better place.

People aren’t forced to get vaccines. They are forced to live with the consequences of whatever they decide. If it is in the interest of public health that people who are not vaccinated stay away from public places or immune compromised places like hospitals, then people who make the choice not to get vaccinated, make themselves unable to participate. No one gets held down and forced to be vaccinated however they may lose some privileges (temporarily) that go with being vaccinated. Once the pandemic was under control and people weren’t dying in large numbers every day, those limitations went away.

While I still like most of the music I did at age 14, I continue to find new music I like. I don’t discard much. If I liked it at one point I usually still like it.

I find that speeders often assume that it is only their driving skill that should define their speed. They don’t acknowledge that they will be driving in traffic or what the roads sight lines might be. They are also often delusional about how good a driver they are. There are many times when following a speeder that has woven through traffic that you can visually see all the cars that swerved or hit the brakes so that the “excellent driver” could get through unscathed.

I’m guessing you either aren’t American or you aren’t and Evangelical Christian.

Most women learn from a very young age that the real definition of slut is 1) you used to have sex with me and not longer do so you’re a slut; 2) I want to have sex with you but you don’t notice me therefore you’re a slut; and 3) my boyfriend, husband, guy I like thinks you’re hot so you’re a slut. People who feel they can drive fast never understand that the road may not be built for extra speed. Most often in cities there aren’t long enough sight lines for traffic joining a road to see a car that is speeding until it is too close. Speeders and zig zaggers don’t see what the cars behind them see: that it is actually the great defensive driving, emergency braking, swerving, going on in their wake, that allows their “safe” passage through traffic - none of which would be needed if they weren’t so selfish.

Cutting everything that we can identify as American. UK has better TV. Foreign films are often better than the “blockbuster” junk out of Hollywood.

He was re-elected. Texans, in general, do not care that he is only in it for his own enrichment. In general, Americans do not care whether their politicians lie and cheat and are only in it for their own enrichment, so long as they belong to the right team/tribe.

If you think you need to protect your data, why would you go to that country?

As Canadians we cannot expect Carney to fix the problems on his own. We, as individuals, need to stop buying American to the fullest extent that we can and if we can’t buy Canadian either buy other countries or not at all. It is hard to do it overnight but with time, most American products can be resourced.

Not all immigration is bad. Not all foreign workers are bad. However when companies/employers are allowed to freely manipulate the system so that Canadians cannot get the jobs or the training and ‘scholarships’ and apprenticeships are for women, indigenous, and immigrants first, then Canadians who are excluded will be resentful. There was a news report yesterday of someone trying to raise money to keep an unqualified student in Canada, all expenses paid, because that young person had “potential”. So do many other young Canadians and yet no one is trying to sponsor them if their parents cannot afford to send them to post secondary training. When a Canadian needs a trade certificate to do a job but a TFW can use the fake certificate his friend created for him, it isn’t a equal employment field.

In today’s online messaging world, one person’s sarcasm is another’s opinion. Without /s it is very hard to tell which it is.

Was in a foreign country recently. The toilets were marked M/F. Walked in one door and my husband went in the other and they both opened into the same large room with sinks in the middle and fully closed cubicles around the edge.
