  • I guess the assassin’s creed games mostly fit your criteria. The plot largely takes place in the past so has already happened and is effectively fixed. The current day plot moves at a glacial pace for most of the first 3 games but does have some development gradually to something bigger.

Can’t really speak for the meta/ modern day plot of the later games as I stopped playing them.

There is at least 1 metal gear game where the premise is it’s a training simulation. I don’t remember the title, I think it’s a spin off of MGS2.

  • For me realising that I care for people (as a job) and if I don’t get it right my patients could get hurt means I’m much more likely to ask for help for anything from little simple things to bigger my mental health is suffering and I need more support from all aspects of my life.

Asking for help isn’t easy, everyone wants to be strong and self sufficient, remember we are a social species and evolved to work in groups and help each other. Think how you feel when you can help someone or if you’ve been asked to help and remember that when you seek help.

  • Wildsea is great, the setting is wonderful and I’m really enjoying the mechanics so far. We’re 4 sessions in and have played through the introductory adventure. It’s a very solar punk hopeful setting (at least how I’m running it) which we all need more of at the minute I think.

I’m looking forward to getting the books for slugblaster, I’ve had a read of the PDF and it sounds like a lot of fun.

Is there anything you’re particularly interested in from the bundle?

  • If I didn’t already have most of the games I want from this bundle I’d have got it in a second. It’s got some really excellent systems there.

Playing Wildsea at the minute and totally loving it.

Just finished a Spire campaign. Good system fascinating setting.

Nights black agents it’s pretty cool and has a co-op series for it.

Slugblaster sounds like great fun and is probably my next game after Wildsea, I’m waiting for my books to arrive in print.

Vassen has some excellent art and lore but I’ve not run it.

Masks has an excellent reputation and has been on my list to get for a long time.

Some really strong game systems in there.

Same, I had Wildsea and Delta green before watching the reviews but I’m definitely considering Delta green as my next game now. He also sold me on Mothership which was great fun to run. Most of the characters even survived.

I’m loving Wildsea so far, just immaculate vibes. First session was exploring a new port and meeting the local colour. My players have made:

A Gau, Island born, stargazer (can’t remember the book terms without looking it up). A shark lady (an extra race from the expansion book which I did not know existed until they found a website to help with character gen, that race is right at the back of the book and not fleshed out), rootless , hacker (like path cutter explorer). And an Ironbound, anchored, steep (a ghost, piloting a robot body made or scrap who makes tea and potions, our groups face character)

  • Counter question, does it matter? If they have fun by knowing what’s coming and being able to prepare for it does that make the experience worse for other players or yourself? If not then who cares let them have at it.

If yes then you need to address it somehow, the usual answer to these sorts of things is to just have an adult conversation with the players about expectations.

If you know your players and that won’t work then you have some choices to make, again do you care enough to put in more work on top of already running the game?

If it’s going to be an issue and they will abuse access to the module even after you’ve asked them not to, do you really want to play with them?

If the answer is still yes then I suggest altering things slightly so them having pre knowledge doesn’t help, locations of key stuff, attitudes of NPCs, stat blocks/ monsters and enemy placement could all be changed pretty easily with fairly little work, I’d definitely rework the monsters at least, I wouldn’t go as far as traps designed to catch them out though that’s punishing the party for a player.

  • You can get them individually or in smaller sets too. I’ve been gradually collecting them for birthdays and Christmas, got the witches and the city watch books now. The covers are gorgeous and the books are surprisingly lightweight for hardbacks so still comfortable to read on the go. I’m going to get the whole set eventually I love the collection.
