Fuck yeah I’d choose SCIENCE diamonds over blood diamonds any day.

There what is? Their comment gives virtually zero indication of what they actually believe or stand for, apart from a vague self-identification as “LibSoc/Anarchist”; and you’re already going for the jugular.
Came in to make a similar comment. Giant machines like this are a huge part of the problem in a number of ways. Their rigid design limits the kinds of environments that you can farm on, if you’re trying to run at competitive scale. It also limits you to monocropping as you said, whereas a complex polycultural system would both more efficiently build soil over time, but naturally deters pests if properly designed and maintained.
They also contribute to soil infertility by overly compacting soils due to their mammoth weight. And they are not at all cheap either, and one of the contributing factors to so many farmers ending up hopelessly in debt.
The bottom line is that industrial farming is not sustainable, and like it or not, homescale and small community agriculture is going to have to play larger roles in our lives if we want to have any hope of staving off famine as resources become more scarce.
When I saw the title I was really hoping I’d see a vertical form factor Steam Deck. I guess that was pretty unrealistic, but now that’s something that I really want to exist.
Going to be honest. I was looking into sources of bulk organic goods and saw that Eden Foods sells 55 gallon barrels of soy sauce for roughly $3,000. Far beyond justifying for any pay I’ve ever had, but for how much soy sauce I go through it is tempting that it’s there.
But then again I opted not to buy anything from that company because the founder is very openly Catholic, and I don’t know what their political leanings are. I’d rather not accidentally support another Hobby Lobby if I can avoid it.
Another thing I hate about the motor vehicle system. It’s designed around, and for, the road rage assholes - the very people who cause the most accidents.
I mean I’ve spent time studying occult stuff, so I guess pretty much the trope codifier.
Turns out they mostly just like to do the macarena. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
They become more necessary in a bike-centric world… as velodromes.
It makes sense because that would also help alleviate the housing crisis.
F. The more fundamental problem is that these are all cars, not bikes. Fuck cars.
Joke’s on Nintendo, they already lost me as a customer back in the 3DS days, and I do not own a Switch for them to brick. 🖕
But if any Switch games look interesting enough to play, I’ll be happy to emulate them on my Steam Deck or PC. 🙃
It started roughly around the ps3/360 era, when corporate devs began prioritizing turning their games into skinner boxes that were designed to motivate players to keep playing, so they would be more likely to engage in microtransactions, see more ads, or continue paying subscriptions. Of course gacha garbage is a fuller expression of this kind of manipulation now days.
Still plenty of great games out there, and in some cases we have a real renaissance.
Can they stop? I’m tired of having to relearn how to use the same dumb system every time they come out with a new version. Even more obnoxious is how they keep moving further in a gesture direction. Stop taking away my damn buttons!
So far so good. I still occasionally have temptations to just order something on Amazon because of convenience and habit, but I can’t really bring myself to do it anymore.
Sacrilege.
I mean if you want one app to rule them all, there’s only ever been one option… Emacs. It can be your text editor, task organizer, calendar… operating system. If by work efficiently you mean endlessly feel the need to make tweaks and modifications, and maybe learn an entire idiosyncratic language while you’re at it… Emacs. Praise be.
Having already purchased the Steam early access version, I was ready to be pissed off until I read further in.
Looks great. I love amanitas, best anxiety medication I’ve ever taken.
Roads and highways would be perfectly fine cycling infrastructure, if we just got the giant motorized death machines off of them.
I ran Trisquel for a little while several years ago. It was an interesting exercise but ultimately limitations pop up. I’d say it’s useful as a motivator to try to choose hardware that is more liberated.
