So if that dev used AI to make various filler/background glyphs would it be okay? Because even scribbles take time to make, if an AI tool can do it quicker and its just background noise, is that okay?
Where is this imaginary line of acceptability? Its different for every person who enters these AI discussions. How about if the dev codes a tool that spits out procedural glyph assets, surely thats fine, but what is the real difference?
They do now. Its just that the older models are still prevalent for various reasons.
The spin of it being positive for indie is absurd. Indie thrives on PC, not Xbox.
Apparently lemmy attracted all the boring bastards i guess. You all must have gray walls, a black desk, and a plain black box for a pc tower and think its peak.
I like splashes of color in various ways in my home, my pc is simply an extension of that. Theres ways do to it tastefully. Grab a Fractal case, set your fans to a solid color.
When did he support sending weapons? I thought he even introduced bills to stop sending them.
His full discussion sorta implied he thinks the same. His rant started by mentioning how we haven’t benefitted from any of the rapid tech advancements of the last 40+ years, not just AI.
I don’t claim to have all the answers. But i’ll say that if/when things go back to some form of normal, i’d like the systems that used to work to still be in place. Impeachment is one of those systems.
Even so, its still important.
Are any of those countless cars ones that have any sort of sport mode? Because i only experience that in cars with no modes (ie permanently in eco mode) or when in the eco modes. Which is a fair enough critique i guess, but also, theyre eco cars for a reason. Nobody cares what happens when you floor it in an eco box while its already upshifted and cruising.
Wat? Its not 1995 anymore. The computers are smart enough not to send your rpms to the moon when you arent pressing the gas. And the system may not necessarily know its raining, but it sure as hell knows more about the moment to moment traction on each wheel than even the driver does! And lets not even get into the fact that you don’t make more power that way anyway, or that your tires are hopefully not so shit or bald as fuck and at risk of fishtailing during totally normal situations.
One is also dying soon, check the meta post
Until the admin(s) of the small instance decide to shut down because there isn’t enough users like mine will soon.
Not all indie games are low graphics requirements.
8GB VRAM is definitely a problem even at 1080p. There are already benchmarks showing this from various outlets. Not in every game of course, and it definitely hurts AAA mre than others. but it will get worse with time, and people buy GPUs to last several years, so it shouldn’t have a major issue on the day you buy it!
They did just successfully reuse a booster on the last test. One of the most powerful boosters ever launched was precisely caught on a tower and relaunched a few months later. But nope, no talent by those engineers.
Saturn 5 was obviously amazing, but we can’t use it as a benchmark today. We could do it again if we wanted, but we don’t want to. Standards and goals have changed. Both politically and in aerospace generally.
Is it disappointing that the ship keeps having issues? Yes. Does that make the program a waste? No. It will progress even if its slow. I’d rather it be late than not done ever, which was the status quo before SpaceX arrived. How many times must these goal posts be moved?
We are watching a whole new round of groundbreaking R&D unfold before our eyes and people are sitting here worrying about money. And a pretty small amount of money in the grand scheme of the country.
It is truly a shame that Elon is the evil asshole that started all this. It makes it so incredibly difficult to be a fan. But try to find the nuance. SpaceX has become so much more than him.
I don’t think any of the original holdouts are left, but i could be wrong.
They bought them out a while ago now
This article is only referencing cost per launch, which is just stupid. what about cost per kg to orbit? Or cost per kg to geostationary? Or cost per kg to beyond earth orbit? Cost per astronaut seat to ISS? Etc… these are the metrics that actually matter. The article also fails to mention inflation adjusted or not, which is important with the timescales they are using. Low effort ragebait article.
The problem with never going there again after they reverse is that it doesn’t actually serve your goal. Companies are fickle as they chase profits, they don’t actually give a fuck about morality. Target chose to ditch DEI initially because they thought it ultimately would be more profitable. Boycotting that is fine. But when they reverse and customers don’t come back, that actually encourages them to just ditch DEI again.
Shouldn’t the league be the one who comes up with their equivalent of weight class? And Isn’t that who he is deferring to in the quote?
Its funny how many people in this thread are pissed off when he essentially just acknowledged that physical differences do exist and probably should have some rules made, just not by politicians who have 0 expertise on the matter.
