The Summit of the Group of 77 (G77) and China concluded in Havana, Cuba on Saturday, adopting a declaration that reaffirms strengthening unity and solidarity in the current international situation. The declaration reaffirms the commitment to strengthen the unity and solidarity of the Group in order to achieve its objectives and reinforce its role in the current international context. During the summit, Brazilian President Lula da Silva denounced the host nation’s inclusion on the US list of state sponsors of terrorism. Venezuela’s President, Nicolas Maduro, spoke of a new colonialism-free era in the 21st century while Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega focused on the US sanctions and the role of China as an international power. Li Xi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said on Friday that China is ready to work with Group of 77 (G77) members to open a new chapter in South-South cooperation in quest for a greater future. South-South cooperation is always a high priority in China's cooperation with other countries, he added.
