There’s a lot of people whose understanding of geopolitics boils down to “big countries bully little countries” and so they see Israel/Palestine and Russia/Ukraine in the exact same way.
For example: A few years ago my partner had to patiently explain to their mom that Saudi Arabia was a long time us ally. But it was after the killing of Khashoggi so she just thought they were ontologically evil and couldn’t understand why the us would support them
