Hmmm, you want to try a widely available cheap alternative to the medication you were on but that isn’t working out for you? I am the learned expert here!!
Hmmm hmmmmm… after much consideration and deliberation (they had a free lunch with some pharma industry representative last week), I am prescribing you… Pisstronix! (barely disguised rebranding (“reformulation”) of the same widely available cheap alternative medication)
Once u know bribing doctors is legal it explains a lot of their behavior regarding medication :3
I am exaggerating the dismissiveness of this particular person toward me (but I have had doctors who acted like this in the past). My insurance doesn’t cover this stuff so I hope she is amenable to just doing the cheap equivalent thing >w<
Do they know we can see right through them?? I could never bring this up with her cuz she has so much power over me but yeh >w<
Also, I have been in several situations where they don’t seem to know like… anything about the medications they were prescribing me and they got rly rly defensive or mean if I push back at all. I don’t wanna go into too much detail but one time I was talking about this thing I was dealing with to an old doctor and how nothing over-the-counter was helping me at all and she prescribed me something off-label (without telling me it was off-label) that upon doing basic research before putting it in my body could not have possibly helped and the only similarity to over-the-counter stuff was that it worked on a similar but unrelated receptor in the body. Wack, idk, maybe she was just trying to get me out of her office
Btw, I’m being vague cuz yeah :3 but, that doctor who prescribed the off-label thing kinda explained her rationale for it (which I guess was implying it was off-label but I didn’t understand it like that at the time) like “well you’ve tried medication that effects the X1 receptor. Let’s try something that works on the X2 receptor (not governing any body systems related to my symptoms, prolly classed in the same family cuz of structural similarity or historical misunderstanding of its function)” but if I start talking about mechanisms of action or receptors in a visit like that they just look at you like

I should prolly be grateful she was even capable of thinking about receptors at all but it ended up being completely baseless speculation! I wish she would’ve done even some basic research before saying all of that and prescribing me smth based on it cuz I ended up just dealing with that whole situation on my own >w<
