My theory is because fully AI channels were getting mediocre views per video but could upload a LOT of videos, reaching the threshold. Hopefully this adjustments puts monetisation out of reach of automated systems.

That’s very optimistic. I recently spotted a short by one of these AI channels with 1.2 Billion views. Billion. With a B. I don’t think this will hurt the AI channels at all, they’ll easily game the algorithm or just use bots to artificially inflate their view count and Youtube will do nothing because it looks good to advertisers and they can charge more for ads.

Many years ago a guy who worked in the office at this warehouse i was working for had a small channel where he unboxed and built models and showed off new models and such. He was making like 20-30 bucks a week off his couple thousand views per video. Then they changed the entire platform to the hours watched system and he was cut off.

Idk i guess it’s not that relevant but i felt really bad for him

But I’m sure they’re more than happy to cram these people’s videos full of ads despite those people not seeing a cent of it.

Youtube honestly seems to be trying to do everything in their power to drive people off the platform and have it be bots and AI only.

I mentioned this in another thread on the subject, but I hit a perfect storm of subject and content once I guess, and have a video on my channel that just keeps racking up views despite having under 500 subs. And at the rate I’m going I’ll never see a dime from it. It’s actually kind of infuriating when I think about it, so I try not to. I made the video for me, not for money. But it still pisses me off.

Yeah, I’m planning on releasing some video soon, because I want to share some ideas I hope people find interesting, I don’t expect to make money from it, but it was a “it would be nice” kind of thing, but now that wouldn’t happen at all, but youtube will still probably make plenty of profit off of it if it does moderately well, which is extremely frustrating.
