Ok lets start with the undisputed goat… Storm corrosion by Storm corrosion. A collaboration between Opeth’s Mikael Åkerfeldt and Porcupine Tree’s Steven Wilson they managed to turn pure ear sex into an album that I listened to every day for my commute for YEARS and it NEVER GETS OLD. He made it for me it resonates in my bones, in my DNA, combining the shared might of musics greatest talent they produced the haunted orchestra of my soul that I seemingly cannot convince anyone else to listen to. Make sure to pirate it because Steven Wilson is a zionist because of course he is, can’t enjoy anything without the creator being a scumbag but I like Rush so maybe I am the scumbag. 4 hours of Ayn Rand tunes to jork off to.

Next up we have Chroma Key - You Go Now onetime Dream Theater keyboardist Kevin Moore left that band after three albums to pursue his own project and then seemingly after dropping the most fire albums of all time then quit music to become a psychiatrist. Another hauntingly beautiful compilation… you will start to see a theme here that basically every album sounds like porcupine tree kinda. But this one is space themed.

Airbag - Identity… It sounds like sad prog cos ynow what I love? Sad prog. Formed in Oslo, Norway in 2004, Airbag’s brand of rock was variously described as epic, scenic, and neo-prog, and reminiscent of late-night Pink Floyd. Or what I call the genre, sadboy Prog for the saddest boys and maybe also girls and enbies.

Gazpacho - Night Progressive rock band Gazpacho formed in 1996 in Oslo, Norway they make more sadboy prog to sad to. Upside Down is a good track to start with.

OSI - Blood OSI was an American progressive rock band, originally formed by Fates Warning guitarist Jim Matheos in 2002. Chroma Key keyboardist and vocalist Kevin Moore is the only other full-time member of the band. Its just more Kevin Moore sound so if you like Kevin Moore sound get some Moore Kevin Moore. I like the track called Blood.

    Storm Corrosion is a masterpiece. They were at the top of their game and did whatever they wanted.

    I’m not completely surprised by Wilson being a Zionist, the other guy from Pineapple Thief is Israeli so I was wondering what the deal was there.

    That aside, it feels like they made something new with Storm Corrosion and it’s a shame it was never performed live and that we probably won’t get a followup

      Are you thinking of Blackfield? Aviv Geffen? Either way, I have totally got the ick with Steven Wilson, and Ninet Tayeb is dead to me.

      Also, I believe they just recently announced they were working on Storm Corrosion 2. Maybe because SW’s last ~5 solo albums are lukewarm bin juice.

        Yes, that’s the one I mean, it was one of his side projects. Nothing has hit the highs of Hand. Cannot. Erase for me, especially with the attempted popish turn since To The Bone.

        If they do make a followup to Storm Corrosion I hope it’s out of passion and desire to do something again. It felt like they had a falling out after the project so it would be good to hear they’re getting back together on good terms for the right reasons

    I absolutely adore Kevin Moore’s music from top to bottom. I’ve written poetry inspired by his lyrics (you can find them in the writing comm if you’re curious!).

    There’s just something about how he navigates through the themes of mental illness and neurodivergent topics that spark inspiration inside me. When I read he had become a psychiatrist later in his life, it made way too much sense and I couldn’t help but respect him more than I already did.
