    We can wax philosophical about how simply moving a .app file to the Applications folder Just Makes More Sense and how the Windows Registry is such bullshit, but macOS has libraries and whatnot, so it kind of has a similar thing.

    At the end of the day, on Windows simply removing the directory does not remove everything, just like moving the .app file to the Trash does not remove everything on my Mac.

    Now, if Microsoft and Apple forced uninstallers that literally removed everything… well, if they both did it, we wouldn’t be able to compare them. But that then begs the question, “well then couldn’t someone just keep reinstalling a seven day demo?”.

      Even on Linux it’s god damn annoying. removing a package doesn’t remove everything. Ever try removing KDE Plasma? good luck finding EVERYTHING to remove.

      It’s the one computing trend, across the board, that I wish was never established. If I want something removed, regardless of what OS i’m using, I want it removed completely. no config files, no cache, no tmp files, no dependencies, nothing. just nuke it.

      It’s not open like Adium was but Beeper lets me keep my sanity when communicating with friends and family over Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. There are paid subscription tiers but free one is sufficient for regular personal use.
