Years ago back when I was in the military I was Military Police. Being an officer I had to understand and know the UCMJ and the Geneva Convention. The MPs had to MOSs back then 95B and 95C. 95C was basically the prison guard. I was no longer in in the early 2000s when Abu Ghraib prison scandal broke I was like what the fuck are they doing? They were not trained like that. Now that I sit here and reflect on it I see where the CIA got their training from.

I’m not seeing how that makes it any better. They knew it was just an experiment but still allowed people with the mere authority of “running an experiment” manipulate them into acting like that. Or accepted permission from them to act like that without needing to be manipulated into it.
That clarification just brings into question the wording of the conclusion, I don’t think it does anything to redeem our species and how it handles power over others.

Tbf we do the same with real prison guards…and police and military. The us vs them propaganda is a key part of the training and culture for all three.

Fundamentalists are only the spear tip; you mistake them for just a tiny minority without knowing their purpose, they are the elite spiritual warriors of very powerful organizations that have been around much longer than any other private orgs on Earth, and they will die for their cause without a second thought.
