Following the dismissal of 31 workers in 2025, which Rockstar and Take-Two argued were motivated by gross misconduct, which drew allegations of union busting and were even commented on by UK prime minister, Keir Starmer, Rockstar workers have officially announced the Rockstar Game Workers Union as part of the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB). The union is prioritizing pay transparency, flexible working, and an end to crunch. It is also taking Rockstar to court over the aforementioned firings, and it has confirmed that a court date for the final hearing in the legal battle has been set, although it has not shared when the hearing will take place. In the meantime, the union is collecting donations to fund the legal battle.

      I mean, yes?

I love to see unions, just as a general rule. But maybe I’m showing my bias here, but I’d have rather all these developers all left Rockstar, and formed their own studio together.

Yes, it’s fantastic that they’re unionized now. I just want Rockstar to die. I’d rather the non-corporate people be safe and happy elsewhere, and for Rockstar to collapse completely.

So, for me this news is a bit weird. Logically I know this is good news, but emotionally it feels like a disappointment.
