I took it to be the act of engaging in scholarly study, not a financial scholarship for fees.
There is free education and free education. If I don’t pay for university but I still need to pay for food and rent, I need scolarship to actually dedicate myself to my studies.
One can lead to the other if you play your cards right

Speaking as a girl that has had boyfriends, but no formal education, I agree.
I agree as a man. I mean relationships are good but scholarships are way better, although no relationship is poor too. However, money is the best.
