There’s been a lot of back-and-forth, and I’m not sure anyone from the Iranian FA to FIFA to the World Cup organizers are really very sure what’s gonna happen. I do know it’s taken a lot of fun out of the Iran-Egypt Pride match for me – poking Iran in the eye for their poor record on lgbt issues feels pretty hollow coming from a country that is currently destroying the infrastructure lgbt Iranians rely on.
