Iran and the US have agreed a temporary ceasefire after 39 days of war. James C. Reynolds reports on the costs of the conflict to date

The U.S.-Israeli war with Iran has thrown the region into chaos, killing thousands of people, costing billions of dollars, and sending energy prices to their highest levels since the invasion of Ukraine.

As the conflict enters its second month, more than 4,500 people have lost their lives, according to reports from more than a dozen countries dragged into the war since February 28.

    Israel’s immiate goals are the maximum destruction of Iran, hopefully to Gaza levels, and ideally chaos ensues, but if IRGC is down to level of hamas, or hezbolah (surprisingly strong), then mission accomplished. Weakened Iran means no consequence to their opinions of increased Israel expansion and genocide.

    US behaviour is as simple as Israel first promises a quick easy war, then explains that victory is essential to their survival. Israel sabotages all peace offramps, to force US on their destiny.

    The old world is not coming back. It’s like 9/11 or COVID/2020. This is life now and it’s time to live for what is right for humanity and stop being played out and trusting the people that abuse our humanity and our lives. Iran might actually be on point in this war and we could probably all learn a lesson in human integrity from them.

    US cannot get Iran to surrender. It may pay off Iran to give impression of surrender, but there will be a trace of payment. More likely, US may just leave, which is its best move, but gets world or at least Asia to make peace with Iran.
