It’s so silly to worry about 3d printed firearms when lathes exist.
lathes are much more complicated to use than printers. The reason this confuses me is that there’s not a lot of real barriers to getting a gun if you want one.
CNC lathes are definitely less complex than 3D printers. They operate in 2 dimensions and as a result the G-Code is simple enough to write by hand in many cases (while there is NO practical way to program a 3D printer without CAM software). They’re just a lot more expensive than an Ender 3 and require shop utilities like compressed air.
You can get mired in selecting appropriate tooling and work holding, but there are a million things which can go wrong with a 3D print also. 3D printers typically don’t eject projectiles in case of an operator/programmer mistake though.
The only thing that makes 3D printing seem simple is that the slicers are really damn good, to the point of providing a better experience than commercial CAM software.

Yes, this is what my claim was based on. Also I find selecting tooling to be much more complex than it initially seems and it is incredibly significant.
cnc is much more involved and expensive to have though.

Machine translation still isn’t able to actually replace human translators. The problem is that people higher up decided that the chatbots were good enough and were willing to accept an inferior translation for the sake of cutting labor costs.

Isn’t a bullet (cartridge) fired by a pin pressing into it? Banning 3d printing stops the easiest, white collar office worker type way to launch a projectile. But there’s plenty of pipes and nails and duct tape in every hardware store.
Modern laws trying to catch up and close a Pandora’s box lol. Files, software, and knowledge base is all already out there, infinitely mirrored across the internet. It’s another clear example that our governmental system is beyond outdated for the modern era. It’s known that government beaurocracy responds slowly, but the remaining free elements of the Internet will only ever outpace these systems.
My printer is air gapped for this and other reasons, like Bambu Labs locking their hardware. It’s a matter of time before other printer companies do the same.

I mean, it seems a little late. I guess it could coincide with government acceptance of ai for policing and many ai service providers fishing around for contracts now that subscription based stuff sold directly to individuals seems to have plateaued.
I guess we’ll just see what 3d printed gun crime “happens” to occur as this legislation advances.
