I agree more and more with what Rodiric Day said about brainwashing - I don’t think these people are brainwashed or being fooled, they’re just making excuses, reaching for justifications given by propaganda because they want to, NEED to believe it. It’s a survival mechanism, something materially beneficial to say and believe because it’s too scary to actually resist, it’s too unsafe, they’ll lose all this comfort they have, even given what’s happening. These are just moments to get through without being noticed to pick up where they left off with weekly brunch and happy hour trivia nights. That obviously lacks long term thinking when it comes to the question of survival, but that has always been the case when it comes to buying into imperialist propaganda.
Libs can’t even define violence. Weapons like sanctions against other countries aren’t even acknowledged as such despite them doing more damage than outright wars often. Or the countless wars against brown people. Even the deprivation against working class people at home. Violence is the question and for America the answer has always been yes.
