I use the one provided by my vpn - this year that is Proton. Next year, Mullvad.
I’ve sometimes used NextDNS.
I use Mullvad’s DoH.
Base or Unfiltered?
NextDNS
Unbound running locally
Unbound + PiHole locally is superior imho
Is Quan9 still a thing? Always liked them but I haven’t had the means to set up anything reliable in a while, service-wise (long story). They’re pretty solid last I knew.
Quad9 is OK, but they follow thru on Spain’s DNS takedown demands when even Google refused. No shame on them, but it made me want to try something else.
You might look at OpenNIC
Your own name resolver.
Now how do I make one.
Simplest case: use opnsense as your router, it comes with hundreds of installable packages.
Or run a server on your home network, and let it be assigned to clients via DHCP leases.
Something that works as a recursive dns server. Unbound, Blocky and Technitium are some examples.
I’ve been using libredns.
It’s fine.
Thanks!
