Due to an foolish oversight, we didn’t have a rule about AI in the sidebar. Going forward, obvious AI will be removed and providing sources will be highly encouraged to prevent posts being removed. In practical terms, you’re not allowed to post AI, but there might be some circumstances where we can’t confirm if something is AI or not (think a source who is able to pass off AI as real work, but can’t it can’t be confirmed).
This post will stay up because the rules weren’t in place, but in the future a post like this will be removed.
This place isn’t perfect either. It’s a massive echo chamber, which if a circle jerk is what you want then yay, but if discussion with other people is what you want then nay.
Can you explain how it is a massive echo chamber?
I think it’s echo chamber breaker. We’ve got people breaking up tankies talking points and blowing up western hypocrisy in the same sphere.
Racists, sexist, misogynists are called out because we have lgbtq friendly instances. Zionists are yet to take a hold because they can’t control narrative on multiple instances.
I can’t speak for everyone but this is best thing for discussions since forums were a thing.
If you think shilling for linux, opensource, human rights and being against corporation, censorship and billionaires is a circle jerk rather than a movement than you’re free to start your own fucking instance.
How about that?
No need to swear at me dude, I made an observation which seems to be widely supported based on the upvotes vs downvotes.
In short, as I tend to spend way less time here as I’ve been soured by people too much. It is an echo chamber in politics, you can’t even question things people say, and I say that as a leftist, you have to be as far left as possible here or be downvoted or called names.
I’m a believer that we can’t change shit if we don’t engage with the other side. I’ve had countless discussions on here where people say the other side have had X years to see the truth and so they’re a lost cause. Well if you are not willing to engage the other side then it is indeed an echo chamber and a circle jerk.
I don’t want to sit on here and wank myself off over how moral and liberal I am, I want to impact real tangible change and you can’t do that if you can’t engage with people with different views.
It depends on what you mean by engage and with who. Most people can be talked to, but likely not on the internet. If I ever wanted to have a discussion with a Trumper that wasn’t immediately hostile, I’d want to be able to talk in person, ideally in neutral conditions. If I wanted to talk with a more conservative liberal, online discussions still might not have enough empathy to genuinely reach them.
Arguing with right wingers on Reddit, Twitter, or Bluesky is a fundamentally flawed approach that can do little to actually change minds. People are emotional beings who require emotional engagement to reach, and that is extremely difficult to do through social media. Ideally you’d try to communicate outside of your internet bubble by volunteering in your local community. You’ll meet plenty of people with more conservative views that way.
Just try hinting that Hamas is bad too. You get banned all over the place.
Besides of tracing AI, the other trick fake artists use is to (badly) convert AI generated images to pixelart.
There’s an era-correct way to create low-res and low-color images from high-res images. I’m not going to tell how it’s done, to keep the fake artists at bay.
Pot on the right is missing a handle
Jumping frog on the right is missing a foot
BlueSky font gives me AI-ick
Pixel art filter seems to have damaged the outline of the clouds and messed with a lot of the Fediverse frog eyes.
I would like to add the frogs smiles, classic AI empty smile on all.
Who’s the artist of this comic?
AI
I wonder if the pixelization filter is intended to try to make it appear less like AI output.
Dunno if it indeed is AI, though it does look a bit uncanny.
But if it is, the filter sounds possible, as then it looks like some DOS-era digital drawing.
Yeah, and I’m not aware of an ai that gets pixel art pixel perfect. I don’t see any distorted pixels
Frog on the left cauldron has 2 fingers, frog in the air right in the middle has 4, the rest seem to have 3 fingers per hand and foot.
That’s not conclusive evidence, but I think it’s worth mentioning
Also frog I. The air on the right seems to have none on left leg.
ChatGPT/Dall-E is fully capable of having generated this.
e: I became curious whether it would recognize its own output.
From looking at it, this looks like a stylized illustration or meme-style cartoon, not a natural photograph.
Illuminating.
It did direct me to a site called imgdetector.ai though, which found 99% probability of AI generation on both this and my test image.
Thanks for the website link. I got the same 99% probability rating on this image, and a 1% on four unrelated, human made images that I checked.
The text is the give away.
