“You asked me that yesterday, the answer is no we don’t.”
“Sorry even though I asked you a question I wasn’t paying attention to the response to the question, do we rent hot air balloons?”
“We do? I’m still not paying attention.”
“We DON’T!”
“I just rang up the customer for that hot air balloon can you load it up into their car?”
“We don’t rent hot air balloons!”
“Why didn’t you tell me that? Also why are you yelling???”
I just got laid off yesterday but that was pretty much my life for the past 1 3/4 years. I was expected to know everything about everything all the time and it wasn’t even my job, I was supposed to be IT support/IT Engineering.
I feel you there.
I ended up managing the office, security, IT, and infrastructure. Then got a swift boot in the butt along with almost 50% of the company yesterday. I saw the signs and I knew it was coming but I didn’t realize how many other people were also going to get the boot.
In my first 2 weeks I was told we were going to be moving to a new office and I was responsible for moving the IT closet to the new location, which ended up being “you’ll move the whole goddamn office yourself and work with the finance guy who also gets all the undesirable tasks to make sure it happens.” From that point on I was the scum on everyone’s shoes and it never improved.
I’m glad to be rid of that place but this job market is absolute shit which is the ONLY reason I made it to the point of a layoff. Typically I would’ve found a new job at least a year ago and been gone, but times have changed and no one is hiring for shit now.
