I wonder why they aren’t doing this in stand your ground states like TX, AZ, or FL where it’s easy (or not even necessary) to get your concealed carry licenses, and if your attacked by a masked unmarked thug with a weapon you’re allowed to use lethal force to defend yourself? Anyone can wear a patch that says whatever they want. From that distance, how are you supposed to identify who they are or why they’re shooting at you? They are going to get waxed.

I heard a theory that the fascists are testing the waters in places with assault weapons bans.

This is why I enjoy civilized talk. My city is solid purple and seems democratic but your comment made me realize we were almost always red and the laws that support 2A came from red leaders. Your “if anything…” made me audibly say, “oooohhh no shit?” Could be bait, could be.

I’d believe it. In my state the gun ranges have changed dramatically. It used to be 100% rednecks and I was the only minority that got weird stares. Now they are full of minorities with John Wick looking rigs, full silencers, and crazy accessories. ICE got pushed back into their own compound a few months ago and I haven’t heard much since.

Mine hasn’t changed at all that I’ve noticed. A few weeks ago the range safety officer was telling me he has never played a video game and video games make children violent. I invited him out to play some pinball, he declined. Customs and Border Patrol has been shooting there for decades. This time of year it’s a lot of old white guys zeroing their deer rifles.

Oregon is effectively “stand your ground” by way of not having a duty to retreat law.

Use of deadly force is permitted in response to a felony in progress.

      Kidnapping is a felony.

It’s likely a matter of time, and the incident will probably be used to justify further aggression
