A federal trial beginning in Amazon’s hometown this week is set to examine whether the online retailing giant tricked customers into signing up for its Prime service and made it difficult to cancel after they did so.
The very last time I tried using Amazon, the final straw that made me just ignore the site altogether, was having to spend about 30 minutes trying to get through checkout without signing up for Prime. And even after all that, they signed me up for Prime anyway and tried to charge me for the subscription about few weeks later.
