“paws off my cannon”, a book that, and I quote: “teaches kids about the importance of the Second Amendment and self-defense. The story follows Bongo the gorilla and his friend Bonnie as they debate whether to ban coconut cannons after a hyena uses one to attack them, with Bongo arguing that the cannons are necessary for protection against the hyenas. The book aims to promote the idea that taking away weapons from law-abiding citizens does not deter criminals and can lead to more chaos.”

HIS COCONUT GUN CAN FIRE IN SPURTS IF HE SHOOTS YA IT’S GONNA HURT

There’s some idiot in there moaning about how Soviet brutalism looked shitty.

Okay, maybe the kruschevkas could have looked prettier, but they sure look better than homeless encampments. And they looked a lot nicer when they were new and when the state was actually maintaining them.

I know that it’s probably a personal bias accounting for why I like Soviet brutalism, but I get really mad when people say it looked ugly, because I really like it, and I’ve seen capitalists build far worse looking apartment blocks and office buildings. At least Soviet “commieblocks” committed to the brutalism, and had a cohesive architectural style over a large area of planned construction. I just think huge concrete cubes with Soviet symbols or socialist-realism art plastered on them, look really freaking cool.

I miss the Cold War. I miss the Soviet Union.

The biggest lie told about the Cold War is that the Western people actually won.

We the proletariat of the world all lost. The only winners were the oligarchs.

I’m still angry my country got involved. I’m angry the Western Allies all hung the Soviets out to dry after the Great Patriotic War. We threw them at the Nazis, and then told them to fuck off and turned on them, while their country was still devastated from the aftereffects of war. I know we never would have, or should have, sided with them against the Americans, but I think we shouldn’t have gotten involved at all, and we should have at least yelled at the Americans for hanging our mutual ally out to dry.

Still dreading the day my kid wants to bring home the shit comic books he sees at our library. How Uderzo & Goscinny are still allowed in these supposedly super inclusive and progressive halls is beyond me.
