“Federal judges deserve a salary hike whose amount is the salary is twice that of a job unemployed people wish they had.”

I mean… $36k/yr is the maximum someone can get per year in payouts from Ontario EI…

I don’t consider that a liveable wage by any stretch, but they’re basically asking for a maximum EI payout to be added to their salary, per year.

      I don’t care who you are, at ~$400k/yr + … You’re not struggling.

These judges should shut up and do their job.

The commission concluded the base salary of most federal judges should rise from $396,700 to $424,700, with the salaries of most chief justices rising from $435,000 to $465,700.

At the Supreme Court, the chief justice’s salary would increase from $510,000 to $546,000, while the eight other justices would get a $33,000 boost for an annual salary of $505,700.

The numbers, by the way. The government said no because this level of spending (there are 1200 federal judges) is ridiculous right now. They also get a pension that has an annual compensation average of about $100k.

Damn son. I should have gone into federal law and become a judge. I’m struggling to make six figures with more than a decade of experience under my belt in a highly technical field.

I understand that we pay them well so they don’t have any desire to take bribes, but god damn that’s some nice coin!

Eh, I think no matter how much you paid someone if they are the type to accept bribes they will accept bribes.

I don’t think paying $200k would be any more likely to accept bribes than paying $300k-500k
